[ ❝ And everybody seems to think they won't ❞ ]

Y/n woke up to find herself laying in bed, she recalled things from the night before. She sighed, looking at the balcony that connected to her room, and saw the sun peeking from the tall spruce trees. Her wrist was bruised from the silk so she went to the bathroom, wrapping excess cloth from the drawer around her arm.

A sudden ruckus downstairs caused her to freeze and she quickly changed from her sweats and sweater to a tank top. Tying her long hair up in a ponytail with excess cloth, getting sick of doing her hair everyday. Nonetheless, she strapped the holsters to their rightful place, put on some oversized shoes and opened her bedroom door, walking down the stairs.

"You're telling me we ran out of water already?!" Y/n heard Sunwoo.

"Yeah, this is the last bottle." She heard Joonyoung.

Y/n turned the corner and saw everyone gathered around the pair mentioned, except Ms. Ahn.

"What's going on?" Y/n raised her eyebrows, startling everyone.

"We don't have anymore water, and I don't think anyone can properly filter water from the tap." Joonyoung stated, his arms crossed.

"I could try." Kevin insisted, making Sunwoo scoff.

"Please, like you could do anything with your major, Mr. Psychology." Sunwoo mocked, slurring a bit.

"It's not like music is an any better major." Kevin rolled his eyes, "You're also drunk, I'd doubt you could do anything in this state. I bet your parents would kick your ass if they saw you like this."

"Guys let's not-"

"At least I had parents."

Y/n widened her eyes, glancing from Kevin and Sunwoo. Her blood ran cold when she remembered what Kevin had told her. How could Sunwoo have known? Had Kevin lied when he said he didn't tell anyone?

The latter question was answered when Kevin grabbed a hold of Sunwoo's shirt collar. Joonyoung tried to separate them and keep things from escalating, but Sunwoo poked his inner mouth with his tongue as Kevin held tightly onto his shirt.

"Now I know why your parents left you."

Y/n's eyes grew even more than before as those words travelled to her ears, she had never seen Kevin so enraged before, and she didn't expect for his fist to come in contact with Sunwoo's face.

"Woah, calm down!" Joonyoung exclaimed, holding onto Kevin's stomach as he clawed at the man who fell to the floor.

Sunwoo's hand slowly came to his lip, his thumb touching something warm and the cracks of his fingerprint turned crimson red. Looking at the blood, Sunwoo huffed bitterly, wearing a sly smile.

"You really pack a punch." Sunwoo groaned, standing up and massaging his jaw.

"How did you..."

There was a moment of silence, Y/n gaze gravitating towards Kevin. He glanced at her, and he widened his eyes. "Did you... Did you tell him?"

Y/n's mouth betrayed her when nothing but air came out as she tried to explain as much as she could, but only two words managed to come out, "I-I didn't-"

"That was supposed to be between us!" Kevin shouted making Y/n flinch. His voice cracked and a tear slipped down his cheek.

The sheer look on Kevin's face was enough to make someone cry. Anger, sorrow, betrayal. It was as if Y/n was shot in the heart, the corners of her eyes stinging, her hand held over her chest. All she could do was stare into those abandoned eyes, and yet, she saw something. Deep down she saw that he was still trying to convince himself that it wasn't true. She could see the trust in him breaking, slowly. And the one time she could have fixed it.

She didn't.

"Don't involve her." Sunwoo flailed his arms, "She has nothing to do with this."

"Shut the fuck up, you bastard." Kevin growled. Somewhat calming down a bit after knowing Y/n wasn't involved.

Kevin shook Joonyoung off of him and walked out of the cabin. Everyone was quiet, though they could hardly say anything to make the situation better. Sunwoo rolled his eyes and walked towards the hallway, shutting the door hard. Y/n rubbed her temples.

"You think Kevin will be okay?" Joonyoung asked. "He might be fuming in the woods right now and we don't even know what's out there."

"I'll check on him," Y/n huffed, "You should calm Sunwoo down, and I give you permission to do it violently if you need to."

To say Y/n was livid was an understatement. She never knew Sunwoo drank, granted she's only known him for less than a week but that's besides the point. But even if he was drunk, why would he say that?

Walking through the forest, trying to find Kevin whilst calming herself down as well, Y/n listened to the crows mock each other in the distance and heard the splashes of a river a few meters away. She looked around every corner for the brown-haired boy, until her feet met the slippery mud lining the riverbend.

Across she could see the familiar brown mop of hair behind a tree and smiled, small stepping stones made a trail across the river as she hopped on each one. Making it to the other side easily, Y/n rounded the tree and saw Kevin sitting criss crossed with an arm supporting his head as he gazed at a squirrel collecting acorns for the winter.

"Kevin?"

"Oh, Y/n..." Kevin sighed.

"Are you okay?" Y/n cautiously sat down next to him. Hoping she could still mend whatever relationship they had left.

"Yeah, I-" Kevin looked up and widened his eyes, "Y/n, look out!"

Y/n whipped her head around, and saw something fast fly at her. Kevin pushed Y/n with all his strength and ended up on top of her. Y/n could hear whatever it was puncture the tree Kevin sat just a second ago. For a moment, Y/n feared that Kevin got hit, but when he sighed in relief, she did the same. They both sat up, a bit awkward from the position before, and Y/n examined the tree.

"An," Y/n pulled the long stick out, "arrow?"

The arrow had a sharp and small stone tip, with a thin but stable wood body and an agile feather bottom. "There's someone here?" Kevin interrupted Y/n's thoughts.

"I didn't think they would attack us," Y/n said it more to herself, remembering the encounter, "We can talk later, we need to warn the others."

With a single, yet hesitant nod from the brown-haired boy, Y/n and Kevin sprinted through the forest. Their legs aching from the sudden exercise, but were ignored due to the adrenaline. Y/n could see the cabin through the thick foliage and ran faster.

"I hope Joonyoung sorted out Sunwoo," Y/n mumbled to herself, looking behind only to find the forest the same way it was, nothing disturbing it other than a gasping Kevin. Y/n huffed and jogged to the doorstep with Kevin trailing behind her.

The pair stormed into the cabin with an important air that everyone immediately turned their heads. Chanhee stood up from his chair, previously biting his nails from stress and venting to Jisoo, the latter complaining that it was unhealthy to bite nails.

"What happened?" Joonyoung stood up.

"Kevin and I were talking, and then someone attacked us," Y/n explained. "They shot an arrow, if it wasn't for Kevin I would've died."

"So, you're saying someone else lives out here? And they're trying to kill us?!" Chanhee exclaimed.

"Basically." Kevin replied.
