4 hours later

"i like it adam." lawrence said to adam in his office, stroking his hair.

"really?"

"yeah, really suits you." lawrence told him again.

"i don't know," adam shrugged, "guess i'm just not used to it yet."

"i guess." lawrence continued to say, "but i love it."

adam smiled.

so did lawrence.

"i have to get back to work you know?" lawrence told him.

"yeah, i know." adam responded.

"you're okay?"

"i'm fine." adam shrugged.

"come here." lawrence said hugging him.

adam felt like lawrence was just teasing him from then on.

"you know i was just joking earlier, right?" lawrence told adam again, continuing to hug him.

"i hope." adam responded quietly.

lawrence laughed and hugged adam tighter.

"i would never let anyone hurt you ever again." lawrence whispered suddenly.

"you what?" adam said back, confusingly.

"nothing, adam, nothing."

"not to sound dramatic or anything, lawrence, but you shot me." adam laughed.

lawrence laughed with him, even if he felt bad, "yeah i know, but i wouldn't do it again."

"good." adam rolled his eyes playfully.

finally they stopped hugging.

they looked at each other for a quick while, then lawrence patted adam's thigh and stood up to get back to work on his computer.

adam watched from behind him on the couch.

he decided just to lay there for a while until lawrence was done working.

eventually adam accidentally fell asleep.

-

"adam." a voice said.

obviously that guys voice.

"adam, wake up." lawrence said again.

suddenly adam popped up.

"sorry-- did i fall asleep?" adam asked lawrence suddenly.

"yeah?"

"shit, sorry."

"it's okay." lawrence laughed.

adam stood up next to lawrence after that, rubbing his eyes to wake up better.

"shit." adam said, sitting back down.

"what?!" lawrence asked.

"nothing-- stood up too quickly."

"oh." lawrence said back.

something didn't feel right to adam.

he didn't know what.

adam finally stood up again and walked out of the room without saying another word to lawrence.

he walked into the bathroom and stared at his hair, trying to like it better, but he couldn't.

"casey i don't like it still." adam said, walking into the kitchen to find casey.

"seriously? it's been dyed for what-- 4 hours? and you're still mad?"

"i hate it!" adam continued to complain.

"too bad, i put my back into that." casey told him.

"i'll bet." adam rolled his eyes.

casey rolled her eyes at him too then looked at him, noticing there was something wrong.

"adam?" casey had said.

she stared at adam as his face filled with pools of tears.

"adam, what's wrong? if you seriously don't like it that much, we can take it out--"

"it's not that." adam mumbled sadly.

"what is it then?" casey said, hugging adam afterwards.

"i don't know." adam told her.

"you can tell me."

"i wanna go home." adam cried.

"okay-- we can go home, if that's what you want." casey said, rubbing his back.

-

later, both casey and adam were in adam's hotel room.

they weren't talking.

but casey still wanted to know what was wrong with him.

yet adam had no idea what was wrong with himself.

he just knew he wanted to be home and away from lawrence.

he didn't know why.

but that's all he wanted for a while.

he felt like he couldn't breathe at lawrence's.

he wish he knew why.

and casey wished she knew what the fuck was wrong with him.

but neither of them knew.
