glass shatters
and the
broken edges
dig into your skin
you don't even
notice
the blood
until you hear it
hit the
ground
a single, earth-shaking
drop
on the
dusty, wooden
floors
that haven't been
cleaned
in a long, long time
breaking a
mirror
is
unlucky
but you're about out of
bad luck
and instead of
dropping
the piece that
sliced open
your fingers
you clutch it
tighter
harder
letting the
jagged ends
rip
your
skin
open
it doesn't hurt
not to you
not anymore
and it's nothing
new
because you've
done it
before
a neat line of
healed slashes
on your wrist
a reminder
that no matter
what
you do
or
who
you pretend to
be
you will
never
be
good
enough
