Kim

“Hi everyone. Most of you know who I am but not all of you. I’m Lucas. And even though I’m known not to pay much attention to girl after I do what I do, people seem to notice how I can’t stop going after one girl in particular. You see I met her a while ago and tormented her little but now I’m regretting it. I need her to know that I’m sorry. I’m sorry for treating her the way I did and I’m sorry for the assholes I call friends that thought she was another one of my conquests or whatever they thought she was. The truth is she is something else. She is worth way more than all of those girls.”

He said as he looked at everyone for a couple seconds before his eyes landed on me.

“Kim,”

The moment he said my name all eyes snapped to me.

“the moment I saw you I knew there was something about you I couldn’t live without. And even though you are avoiding me, and don’t deny it cause I know it’s true. I won’t give up. Ever. There’s no one else. I know it’s hard to believe me when I say that I want no one else but you but please hear me out. All the other girls were just that, girls. I don’t remember what they looked like and I don’t even remember their names. You are something completely different. You’re sweet and kind, you don’t care what everyone else thinks about you. You are not superficial, you don’t wear makeup and there is no way you could ever look even more beautiful than how you look without it. Kim, I am completely and irrevocably in love with you. There is not one person or thing on this green earth that could convince me that you are not the girl for me. I know for a fact that we belong together, I can feel it.”

I hate attention. Of any kind. Some girls were wishing they could kill me. I saw it in their eyes.

I was looking at him while he spoke. He knew where I was. I felt him watching me most of the time. Someone began to yell a chorus everyone knew.

“Kiss him, kiss him, kiss him.”

Pretty soon everyone joined in. I wanted out. I needed to get out of there as soon as possible. I headed down the bleacher stairs and Lucas began to walk towards me. I made it down without making a fool of myself. I was staring at the ground the whole time. When I got to the bottom, I stopped. Not because I wanted to, but because suddenly everything went quiet.

Lucas was less than a foot away from me. I looked up into his eyes. They held nothing but hope and love.

Everything was too much. I saw his arm move and in that moment I turned and ran out the gym door. Once I was out I felt a little bit better. I kept walking towards the doors that lead outside of the school building.

My breathing was frantic. I needed fresh air. I heard a loud bang and before I knew it-

“Kim!”

Lucas

I kept walking. I didn’t have the will to stop.

“Kim! Wait. Please , hear me out.”

I kept walking until I reached those doors. The sky was cloudy, the sun was nowhere to be seen. The wind was blowing. Rain was well on its way and would not take long to get here. The moment the doors opened I ran. I ran until I couldn’t run anymore. I made it to the middle of the street.

I heard footsteps approaching but I didn’t turn around.

“Kim! Please stop ignoring me! Let’s talk. I don’t know what’s wrong. I want to fix it but I can’t if I don’t know what it is. Please talk to me. Forgive me if I did something. Yell at me, hit me, punch me! Anything! Just please don’t keep on ignoring me!”
