Sophie's POV
"Dad?" I called.
"Yes Sophie?" I heard Grady's voice float in my ears.
"Well Fitz and I have to tell you something."
"Great. He's here. Again."
"He's gonna stick around for a while." I told him.
"Why would that be?"
"Dad, we're engaged."
"WHAT? I DIDN'T ALLOW THIS"
"Grady, I allowed it." Edaline said from the stairway.
"Edaline, she's way to you-"
"Grady, she's not getting married in two days! It'll be at least two years!"
"Then why get engaged now?"
"You know the elvin tradition! Grady, can't you be happy for her? She's getting married, not becoming a slave! And not even to any random backstreet boy, but a sincere, loving, determined, passionate boy. They've been through so much together, but you can't even accept that our responsible, and grown up daughter is getting married! Get over it!"
Grady seemed to shrink after that.
"Okay then. It's fine." His voice quivered.
