chapter 118: friends

"No, because I wanted to talk to you."

Silence.

"O-Oh."

Seokjin bit his lower lip, not knowing how to continue. But he didn't have to, because Byulyi carried on.

"I- I'm sorry, I didn't know-" Byulyi stammered. "I was hurrying you because I just assumed that you were calling me for work and I was busy talking to a friend whom I hadn't seen in a long while..."

"I missed you," Seokjin said, his heart beating at a million miles per hour. "I don't know if you missed me too, but after staying in the same house with you for some time, I got used to seeing you everyday. Seeing you first thing in the morning when I wake up, eating breakfast opposite you, bickering with you sometimes, talking and laughing with you every now and then throughout the day. But that day, we both rushed off on our own separate ways early in the morning... I didn't even get the chance to see your face, or talk to you over breakfast. So the moment I had the chance to, I called. And I was rejected. And honestly... it made me feel like shit."

A long pause.

"I missed you too."

Seokjin's heart was about to beat out of his chest. "Y- You did...?"

"Mm-" Byulyi admitted. "You're right. On the train to Busan, I thought of you. I wanted to text you... but then your text arrived and it made my day. I'm sorry for being so curt on the phone that day. Will you forgive me...?"

Seokjin didn't think Byulyi understood what he meant by the fact that he 'missed' her. He wasn't someone who said something like that to anyone - not even Jungkook. He only said such things to someone... he had feelings for.

"Moon Byulyi, look-" Seokjin began. "You know what I mean by saying all this right...? Do you... Do you, by any chance, feel the same way?"

"Mmhmm, I do-" Byulyi said without hesitation. "And yes, I feel the same way too."

Seokjin's heart skipped a beat. "And by that, what do you mean?"

"Let's never quarrel ever again, Kim Seokjin-" Byulyi said. "Let's call it a truce. Friends?"

Just as Seokjin had expected, Byulyi didn't get what he had been trying to say. But at least, reconciliation was something Seokjin wanted as well. A bitter smile spread across his lips as he let out an inaudible sigh that was filled with mostly disappointment, but also a little tinge of hope.

"Friends."

Now, two months passed and all was well.

Jungkook and Jieun were hiding their relationship well, dating in secret and only at night, which focused mostly on Jieun practising her makeup skills on Jungkook who nonchalantly focused on album preparations; Seokjin and Byulyi were on good talking terms again, and their friendship was taking a turn for the better once more; Yoongi and Jennie had finished casting calls and begun massive preparations for the drama, with Byulyi's help; KNJ News was doing well too, especially after Reporter Ahn Hyejin covered the release of the 'My Brightest Star' drama and scored an exclusive interview with Director Min Yoongi.

September arrived, and it was finally the first day of filming for 'My Brightest Star'.

"So today-" Hyejin smiled naturally as Jisoo, who was filming her, followed her into the studio. "We're here at the filming location for the upcoming drama 'My Brightest Star', where the first episode will be filmed today! Oh- I see Min Yoongi PD-nim and Moon Byulyi jagga-nim over there! Let's go over and say hi!"
