Hello!

Sorry for any delays in this story, all of my energy flowed to finally finishing my marauders-era fic that has been on hiatus since... 2016? Anyway! Here is part 1 of 2 (perhaps 3, but in the meanwhile, let's stick with 2) of the Christmas Ball!

I had to slice parts into different chapters because this one already reached 24 pages on the word doc. Hope you like it!

P.S While we're still here, are there any characters you would like to read more about? I'm not even remotely in the middle of this story yet, so comment below if you're looking to know more about your fav!

Minnie liked reading her letters early in the morning. She found a certain comfort in roaming the empty halls of the castle, alone and bundled in her favorite sweaters, it was a treat that nothing else could ever replace. Dawn began to strike, and though the sun had barely shown itself, the deeply lush indigoes from the sky began to saturate through the open windows of Hogwarts, showering the halls from shades of blueberries to a growing gradient of pomegranates.

In her hand was a letter from her eldest brother, Harrison. As an eleven-year-old about to embark on her schooling at Hogwarts, Harrison knew there was a grand chance of Minnie and Ariadne getting sorted into different houses thus sending his sister into a heavy syndrome of separation anxiety. Before she even stepped foot onto Platform 9 ¾, he had promised to write to her every two days to help her ease into her new environment.

And as she grew older, the letters had also grown from every two days to a fortnight until Minnie eventually told Harrison that every other week was just as fine.

Minnie,

I showed the catalog clipping of your dress to mum and dad last night during dinner. I believe the words "royalty" and "drop-dead gorgeous" were passed around the table, but you know that already. Take loads of pictures at the ball, please? It'll be the first party where Rosamund is with all of you, I want a group shot that'll rival a police lineup.

Mum will probably clobber me with a broom if you do take a photo like that, but it is a clobbering I will gladly risk my life for – and seeing that I'm already sacrificing my perfectly shaped head, do portraits but in the style of mugshots.

Love,

You favorite brother. (Harrison)

There was something about finally enjoying Christmas at Hogwarts now that her younger sister Rosamund was finally eligible to join. Minnie and Ariadne offered to shop with her for her dress, but they were only rejected by the fact that Ros had already ordered her outfit in the post. She was more self-sufficient than any other student in her year, and it was something Minerva greatly regarded about Ros.

Down the hallway, Minerva noticed that a looming shadow emerging from the classroom, the torch mounted on the wall further casting a ghostly appearance to what may only be a tall human walking around. With her curiosity peaked, she picked up and pace and walked towards the shadow, soon spotting that it was indeed a tall person exiting the classroom not so far from where she once stood.

"Oh, hello." The bespeckled man greeted, mildly startled by the young girl that appeared out of nowhere.
