1 YEAR BACK...

JANA

"Bye, Dad," I said while getting out of the car. I quickly open the umbrella, so the heavy rain doesn't get me wet.

"Have fun!" He shouted so I could hear him over the heavy rain.

"Yeah," I replied with a smile watching him drive off.

Today is my first day at a new school after 12 long years at St. Grace Public School. A feeling of worry, anxiousness, excitement, and a lot of other feelings shoots through my body. From making new friends to many more  there goes a long list of things to get worried about.

I look around, observing everything around me as I slowly walk towards the school building. A  smile appears on my face, the rain has always made me happy. As I enjoy the new surrounding i silently wish this place would give me some memorable moments I could treasure as I had from my previous school.

Once I reached the portico, I made sure that my dress didn't get wet. I look up to see a senior walking up to me. "Welcome to St. Joseph Public School," he warmly welcomes and I smiled back. "Which stream?" he asked.

"Commerce," I respond. He nods and leads me to my class on the first floor of the main building. When I entered the class, a girl in a high ponytail waves me over with a "Hey." I sit next to her, she looks me up and down. I guess she probably thought I was someone else when I walked in.

"Hey, I'm Serah," she introduces herself and brings forward her fist for a bump which I didn't expect.

"Jana," I reply, giving her a fist bump.

"Which school did you come from?" She asks in curiosity.

"St. Grace Public School," I reply.

NOAH

"St. Grace Public School," I hear an unfamiliar girl's voice behind me. Who's that?

"I have heard that's a school with cute girls," I say as I turn around to face an unfamiliar girl. "Yeah, it's true. You are pretty cute," I blurt out the moment I saw her, causing her to blush. Her dark brown hair goes down to her shoulder and her side swept bangs matches her heart shaped face perfectly. That piece of information about St. Grace was true, she is really cute. "I'm Noah" I introduces as I watch her blush.

"Jana," she replies, smiling while staring into my eyes a bit longer.

I notice Serah, looking at us confusedly with the corner of my eyes. "Nice to meet you Jana from the cute girls' school," I divulge, making Jana snap out of her deep stare. But once again I made her blush and that's when she is pretty cute.

Harry scoffs, "What kind of school is that Noah?" He teases, turning back to join the conversation.

HARRY-my irritating best friend since childhood. Buddy Number-1.

"Nothing man," I replies. "She is Jana, a new student." I purposely introduces her to avoid his question so he wouldn't tease me.

"Hey Jana. I'm Harry. Is he trying to flirt with you?" He asks Jana while looking at me with his most stupid annoying grin. He never misses an  opportunity to make fun of me!

"No doubt at all," Serah snickers as she tries to support Harry.

SERAH-my other irritating best friend. Buddy Number-2.

I roll my eyes at both of them. "He didn't ask you," I replied in a snarky tone. Oh god! I don't want Jana to think that I was flirting with her within a few seconds after the introduction.

"Doesn't matter," Serah smirks. The two of them double down in laughter while Jana and I awkwardly smiled at each other.

JANA

"Doesn't matter," Serah says and starts laughing with Harry. I face Noah, who's looking at me with a pleased smile.

How should I answer Harry's question? Should I just agree with Serah and say 'yes'? No... Noah was not trying to flirt, so how can I answer with a 'yes'? Then, with a 'no'? No... that was a kind of flirting I guess.

I awkwardly smile, hoping they won't push the questions too much.

But why was I blushing too much when he called me cute? Okay, blushing was fine because I think that's the normal response when someone says you are cute. So that doubt too sorted out.

Finally, why I was staring into his eyes for too long? That's a serious question to be solved. What will they think about me? I have seen many people with deep blue eyes before... but none was captivating as Noah's eyes. His eyes were so damn special and that's why I couldn't look away immediately but that doesn't mean I have to stare for so long to make it awkward.

I mentally groan. Why am I so weird about this? MENTAL NOTE TO MYSELF: NEVER REPEAT THIS KIND OF STARING. Thank god that he said something to snap me out of my staring contest with another episode of blushing.

I look around to see a pretty girl walking up to us, "Hey, guys!" When she notices Noah, her eyes light up. "Oh Noah, we are in the same class?!" She exclaim. Why was that for? They chatter for a bit before she notices me. The girl introduces herself as Hazel Joe to me before she settled in her seat.

A short lady, who I presume our class teacher walks in. "Silence," she orders, making the class quickly fall into silence. She introduces herself as Ms. Susan, our class teacher. She begins the class with the syllabus and not with the introduction of students and all she managed to do was make her first impression a bad one.

Throughout the day, I met many other students of the class. However, I only spend time with Serah, Noah and Harry for the rest of the day because I genuinely feel comfortable around them. Serah even promised to give me a school tour tomorrow! My first day went better than I expected since I met lots of new people and started familiarizing myself with the school.
