"Papa! Papa! Tell me a story!" The young boy reached his small hands towards his father.
He grinned looking at his son with such glee. He sat on his bed as the boy crawled to his lap. His fathers arms wrapped around him in safety and warmth.
"Papa read this one!" In his tiny grasp was a book. It's pages folded and wrinkled.
He chuckled with a grin. "We've read this so many times, how about I tell you a new story."
The child wrinkled his little nose at his father before his tiredness made him give in. "What's the story about Papa?"
"Its about two people falling in love."
His eyes widened as he got comfy to listen.
"Once their was a kingdom divided by two. On one side was a boy who did everything to make his parents proud. He followed the rules, he did what he was told, and he never did anything that was considered to not be perfect in their eyes. He had always believed he was happy with how he lived.
His parents eventually let him go on to be a knight. Where he would continue to be "a model of what every knight should be" as his commander would tell him. He still believed his life was perfect until one day while spying on the other side he saw a girl sitting under a tree. Her eyes were a beautiful blue that reminded one of a sky full of clouds and sunshine and a smile that made him want to run to her arms.
Being tranced by her beauty he walked to her as she sat under the tree. They talked for hours before finally seeing the moon welcome the end of a summer day.
He promised her that he would come back and so he did. Everyday he would find her at the tree as they would laugh and talk together. They spoke about their passions and dreams, and even things they could do together.
After a while people started noticing something was different about him. They told him he was crazy and needed to focus on more important things then the passions and dreams that began to float in his head.
One day as the boy snuck away to find the girl, one of his friends had followed. He saw who the girl was and what terrible things she was doing to him. He was talking to a girl from the enemy side.
After he got back home the boy was met by his friend. The friend warned him of the girl and how his people would think of it but the boy didn't want to hear any of it. So the friend ran off and spoke of the lovers to all that would hear. Everyone scoffed and hated him for his betrayal to his side, not much longer the boy was convicted of a crime worth death!
The little boy gasped.
In rebellion the two ran away together, hoping for a new life they ran to a different kingdom that didn't know of the war not too far away from its own. For many years they were happy. They fell in love with their new lives and decided to have a child.
This child was special to the two lovers. Not only to them but was very powerful. Because of this power their old kingdom found them.
They tried to steal the child for their power and the lovers decided they had to do something.
They fought, and made sure nothing would happen to their beloved baby and in fighting the girl died and never saw the child that she had protected. The boy, now a man had to take care of the child alone never to see his love again."
"Papa! Where's the happy ending?" The little boy jumped up from his sleepy position in protest.
"Sometimes my child, stories take centuries for a happy ending...."
