Chapter 5

When I walked down the hallway of Marquee High, I saw people pointing and whispering. I raised an eyebrow and kept going forward. I smiled when I saw Bree, waiting for me at the lockers. She turned around, and didn't look happy.
"Hey Bree!"
"You left me at the football game."
"Something important happened."
"Yeah. I bet your going to say what happened to you before I can speak."
I plopped down on a bench and patted the seat next to me. "You do the honors." I said, flatly.
She didn't sit down. I raised my eyebrows as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Are you for reals, Ally?" She said, sassily. "Excuse me?" I asked. Sabrina rolled her eyes and groaned like what she did to our history teacher when he lectured her. "Now you're Matt's girlfriend."
"Yeah, that's what I was about to tell you."
"Yeah, only except there's no freaking need for that because the whole school knows."
"What? How did this get out? It was yesterday."
"You had a whole day to tell your best friend about your new boyfriend. And you didn't."
"I-"
"Was busy 'hanging out' with Matt."
"Sabrina, you don't know anything about my situation, so don't even say anything."
"Not a problem, you jerk."
And then she walked off.
*********************************************
I dropped my backpack on my bed and I plopped stared at my ceiling. Have you ever been lost in your thoughts for like 2 hours? Good, I'm not the only one.
I'm a horrible friend. I can't believe I chose TV over my best friend. Wait, I didn't do anything wrong. she's just overdramatic. Wait, Sabrina's never overdramatic. She's the coolest chick I've met. Wait, that means I am a bad friend?! Nah it's not my fault. And repeat.

Sabrina's pretty much my only friend. I had no idea who to talk to. I picked up my phone and skimmed through my contacts. When I read the first one on my list, I immediately smiled. I did have another friend! My lab partner. Duh, how could I forget Asher? I sit by him everyday in second period. He picked up on the second ring. "Hello?" His voice crackled through my iPhone. "Hey Asher! It's me, Ally. Alison Parker. From science. Second-" "I know who this is, Ally." "Well are you free right now?" "I guess.." "Are you hungry?" "Uhh..." "Great meet me at..."

I was sitting down while reading a book at an empty booth in my favorite restraunt, CityStop, when Ash walked through the door. He looked really cute in a navy blue sweater and jeans. We gave each other smiles as he joined me. "Hey." "Sup." He looked around the full diner, and whistled. "Wow, I've never been here." My jaw dropped. "Then you've never lived." He laughed and I crossed my arms around my chest. "City Stop is the best place ever. No lie." Asher just smiled.

About 10 minutes after we ordered, a pretty waitress came by and dropped off Asher's taco and my macaroni. Asher bit into his taco and sighed. "Told, you," I said, grinning. "You're awesome." The words happily fluttered down to my stomach and made me blush. You have a boyfriend now. I said in my head. Asher and me talked more than me and Matt. Maybe it's because me and Asher didn't have couple-y pressure. "Matt's lucky to have you." My eyebrows raised at the bitter sadness in his voice. "At least one of us is lucky in this relationship." We both looked shocked when I said it out loud. The tension between us was crazy awkward. Finally, Asher spoke. "What's up?" "At first Matt liked me for how I looked. I rejected him so he begged me to give him another chance. He um, went to one of my yoga classes and was sooo sweet to me. Then, I went to his football game and there he asked me out and I was so happy at first but then he got in between me and my best friend. Now I'm starting to have feelings for y-another guy." My confession spilled out of my lips and I was embarrased after I said it. He's judging me, I thought. Then Asher touched my hand. My hand tingled and my cheeks grew warm. I saw him lean on slightly. I closed my eyes and braced myself for my first kiss. Before our lips met, the waitress came with the check. "I got it." He pulled out a twenty and the waitress took out trays. He hugged me. "See you at school on Monday. Bye." When he stepped out, the bells jingled and I rubbed my arm. I wanted that kiss more than anything.

Sorry I haven't been posting often and I apologize that this chapter is REALLY short and boring. I've got the storyline planned out but I'm having trouble putting things into words. THANK YOU FOR 100 READS! I'm happy we've gotton this far. I'm having a really busy week. I'm going to update next week. Sorry, again. I've been writing a book the same time as this one and I'm going to publish it during graduation season, which is a few months away. I should've pre-written this story, but again, I'm very sorry. Oh and happy 1 month anniversary of The New Girl! Thanks loves! 💋Katie
