Long distance 2

"Ok so Julie just announced that she is opening up a branch back home, as soon as she said that I mentioned to her my predicament and jumped at the chance to fly out together, she's going to work with me in getting a permanent visa while we are home at the same time as keep me employed" I say to Liam, Jayden and Liams husband Travis

"Oh hun that is great news" Travis says

"I was actually worried that you might not have any work while home" Liam mentions

"Me too, I said to her I would've done things remotely and video called if needed but she has a new project for me now so the next few days before I need to leave I will be deferring appointments to other therapists" Jaydens hand tightens on my thigh. I take his hand in mine and squeeze back "Things will be fine, everything will eventually work out"

"If you like her as much as you say you do then we'll all be happy" Liam says making Jayden throw a cushion at him

"This week is going to be tough" I mumble

"We will all help you get through it" Jayden says

I love this man. I truly do. I haven't said it yet because I don't know how he feels. I want to say it to him once he's met my family, he's met everyone I care about. Even my ex that is still my best friend.

"When you come for a visit with us, will you meet Adam?" Liam says as he pulls the cushion that was thrown at him to the side

"Adam?" Jayden asks

"My ex" We all watch Jayden, intently waiting for a reaction or any reaction

"Why would I meet him?" He says

"Because he's her other best friend besides me? And maybe to thank him for giving up the best thing to happen to him, making way for the best thing to happen to you?" I realise I have been watching Jayden very closely. His eyes had dilated for a split second when I mentioned Adam is my ex. I watched him take a deep breath and exhaling slowly at Liams every word

"We will all be there right?" Jayden asks. The boys smile his way nodding their head "Ok, as long as he doesn't try and get back with you I'm all good"

"I don't think he will, he's seeing someone" I tell him

"Still, you can never be too sure" I roll my eyes at Jayden who playful nips my sides making me laugh

"Trust me when I say this Jayden, once you see how the two are together you wouldn't think they were even a couple... what's with that face?" Travis says looking to me

"How do we act?" I ask

"You both act like friends should and that you were never in love with him" Travis says which makes me open my mouth in shock "Thats not saying that you weren't in love with him when you were together it just means you both have moved on and act as best friends should"

"I'm too afraid to ask what I want to ask now" I snap my head to Jayden as his tone with the words he spoke sounds defeated and deflated

"Ask and I'll give you the truth" I tell him "I know what you want to ask, I want you to ask me"

He sighs and takes my hand in his "Are you still in love with him?"

"No, I love and care for him but not in the way you fear will pull me away from you, he would never interfere with a relationship I have with someone unless he thinks they will hurt me physically and mentally, he continues to be my protector even when we are miles away, I've talked about you to him" I smile but that drops when he hears I still talk to my ex

"You still talk to him?" He asks. I glance at Liam and Travis who both have a hand near their mouthes

"Yes, he's still my best friend, don't tell me you don't talk to your ex girlfriend the one you had a house with?"
