Long distance

I've been a physio therapist for 6 years, 2 of those years I've been located in a therapy centre located near my best friend Liam.

Liam begged me to move closer to him after my 10 year relationship came to an end and for me its been the best decision I ever made.

Liam is my gay best friend who plays NFL. We've been best friends since we were babies as our parents were best friends too.

Lately he's been trying to get me to apply for the head physio therapist position for his team. Everytime he asks I always decline. I love working with a variety of people whereas when I started back home in Australia, the variety of backgrounds people come from aren't the same as here.

"You can't just make the nurses page me back to the office saying you're one of my clients Liam" I say as soon as I open the door to my office and stop to see Liam and someone else there

"Mia honestly its hard to get an appointment with you, you're booked out for weeks and this can't wait" Liam gestures to his friend in the chair "Mia this is Jayden he's the quarterback on our team and he injured himself at training a few days ago, our physio told him he'd be out for 6 weeks and that's way too long, with your success rate you could cut that time in half"

"Stop trying to butter me up!" I yell moving to sit beside my desk when I stop suddenly as Jayden and I lock eyes. Fuck my life up right now! He is gorgeous. His blue eyes captivate me, his tanned skin wanting to be kiss and his dark brown hair waiting to have my fingers run through. If he says he's Liams quarterback then I'm sure underneath the hoodie and jeans he has a physique I need wrapped around me

"Wow" He whispers "Fuck me"

I try not to smile but I know I'm blushing

"Alright you two stop staring at each other, can you help him or not Mia?"

"Leave him with me" I say without looking at Liam

"You both may just end up fucking if I leave you together alone, I think I'll just stay" I look away from Jayden and frown towards Liam

"What the hell dude?" I say. Its when he folds his arm over his chest that he stares right back. I sigh nodding my head. I'll make sure he suffers later "Ok then"

We sit and talk for a few minutes as they tell me what happened and what their therapists told them

Shortly after I've scheduled for him to come back for all the appropriate scans and emailed their therapists to send me what they deemed a return to full duties plan.

Liam stays back as Jayden walks away with his crutches

"I think he likes you" my eyebrows raise in question "Its not a bad thing, he just has a reputation"

"Then I'll stay away" I tell him

"I want you to date but I'm worried whatever this connection the 2 of you have right now, could be the best thing for you or ruin you" He places a soft kiss on my forehead before making his way out of the building "I'll see you at home, love you"

Fast forward a few months, Jayden is back and better than ever. We have also started seeing each other, he has been trying to also convince me to take on the head therapist job for their team

"Mia" I look up from my desk in my office and see Liam standing in the doorway "You have mail and Jayden is here to see you" I smile as he hands over the envelope followed by Jayden walking in behind him

"Hey babe" He says leaning down to kiss me on the lips "Do you ever take a day off?" I laugh it off and push him away when he lifts me up to place me in his lap taking a seat in my chair "Lets go out tonight"
