chapter 103: reeking of jealousy

"Ah-" Jennie's face lit up as she moved from the floor onto the couch next to Yoongi, scrolling through her phone for a while for the picture of the guy. "There."

Yoongi took the phone from her hand, carefully examining the photo of an unfamiliar-looking guy on Jennie's phone screen. "Who's this again?"

"Ah-" Jennie smiled as she reached over, flipping through photos of him on his Instagram page to show Yoongi. "His name is Yook Sungjae! Remember when I was supposed to be the female lead of the Cinderella movie I filmed a while back? He was the male lead back then! We're on pretty good terms, and he was affected by the scandal too... I think we can consider casting him."

Yoongi pursed his lips as he looked down at Jennie's phone again, mindlessly scrolling through the photos. "You both are on good terms, huh..."

Jennie watched Yoongi's expression carefully. "He's handsome, isn't he?"

"Handsome?" Yoongi scoffed. "He's just alright..."

Jennie frowned. "I find him pretty handsome though. Maybe your taste is different. I think he fits the CEO vibe though, don't you think? He has a bit of the wealthy vibe too, which fits the character well-"

Yoongi looked unimpressed. "Hm..."

"Why? Is he not a good choice?" Jennie frowned. "You seem like you're not too fond of him..."

"It's not whether I'm fond of him or not," Yoongi lied through his teeth. "I'm just concerned about his acting, you know? We need someone who can portray the role well-"

"Oh, is that so?" Jennie smiled. "In that case, you don't need to worry about it at all! Sungjae-oppa's acting is pretty superb, we had pretty good onscreen chemistry that time too, based on what I remember-"

"Sungjae... oppa?" Yoongi swallowed hard. "Y'all must be close, hm."

"Yeah, I mean-" Jennie shrugged. "We're pretty alright. He was pretty nice to me the whole time, while we were filming. The only problem was..."

"Was...?"

Jennie chuckled. "I mean... it would have been better if he wasn't Joy-ssi's boyfriend. If that was the case, perhaps she wouldn't have gotten so upset with me."

"Wait, hold on a second-" Yoongi blinked his eyes a few time in disbelief. "Isn't Joy one of those bullies of yours?"

"Oh, so you did read the article, after all."

"And you're telling me that even after that Joy bullied you, you're okay with casting her boyfriend as your fellow lead?" Yoongi shook his head, unable to comprehend. "Are you... okay?"

"What?" Jennie laughed. "I had beef with Joy, not her boyfriend. Besides, I'm not even sure if they were a thing... There were rumours going around that they were dating, but from the way they interacted on set, it seemed more like Joy-ssi was interested in him while he wasn't exactly too interested. I think she bullied me partially because she got jealous that he kept talking to me all the time... but about that, I'm not too sure too..."

Yoongi firmly closed the Instagram page with Sungjae's profile on it. "You may not be sure but well, I'm sure - Yook Sungjae... out."
