"No, you're crazy. Y/n loves you too much to leave you for someone like Mia."

"I heard that," Mia glanced over to Will with a look in her eyes.

"Sorry."

"Just seems like they are a lot more in love with Mia that me," Alex sighed quietly, taking a sip of his drink. He had been trying to keep quiet, Y/n seemed so happy flirting and being around Mia, maybe they had been planning to leave him for her.

When dinner had ended, they split the bill and went their separate way to their vehicles. They had just planned to meet up at the movie theater.

The car ride was quiet between Alex and Y/n. Y/n seemed perfectly fine meanwhile Alex was lost in his thoughts. He had started to get a bit anxious, he had started to feel insecure.

"You alright, babe?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," he nodded, looking over to his partner. A small smile plastered over his face.

"That's good, you just seem a bit down."

"I'm just thinking."

A few moments passed.

"About?"

"What?"

"What are you thinking about?" Y/n turned the car down the street.

"Nothing, just music."

"Oh... alright then."

After meeting back up with the other couple, Y/n and Mia were practically glued to the hip for the rest of the night. As they waited for the movie to start, they had continued to giggle and joke about being in a relationship. Alex had found himself sitting next to Will to converse while Y/n's attention was given to Mia.

The movie eventually started, pulling Y/n and Mia's attention away from one another. Alex couldn't even focus on the movie, he could feel his attention pull away from the screen to look over to Y/n. He was curious if they had started to talk to Mia again during the movie. There was no point in lying, he was quite jealous, but he couldn't help himself.

When the movie finally ended, the group made their way out of the theater. Mia and Y/n had walked ahead of Will and Alex.

"You still think Y/n's gonna leave you?"

"Yeah."

"Your anxiety is just getting to you, mate." Will shook his head, "I promise everything will be back to normal tomorrow morning. It's been a couple of days since Mia and Y/n last saw each other, they're practically best friends."

"Yeah, I understand," Alex let out a deep sigh as he slouched.

After the couples had said their goodbyes, Alex and Y/n got back into their car. Once again, Alex moped as he stared out the window while Y/n seemed to be quite happy.

When they had finally pulled up to Alex's apartment building, Y/n parked in a spot, turning to Alex.

"Al, please talk to me. Something is obviously wrong."

Glancing over, Alex's eyes met with Y/n. He could see the worry behind their eyes. Y/n had turned to face Alex in his seat.

"I..." he paused, letting out another short sigh, "I'm just worried. I think I'm overthinking."

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

A moment of silence passed between the couple in the car, tension quickly rose. Y/n could feel anxiety building up inside of themself.

"I think I'm just worried I'm going to lose you to Mia."

Y/n fought back the urge to crack a smile as they placed a hand on one of Alex's cheeks, turning his face towards them. "Oh love, what do you mean?"

"You two just kept flirting tonight and both just seem so close-"

"Alex, Mia is just my friend. I promise you that. She'll always be just a friend. I am so much more in love with you than I could ever be with Mia. Please remember that. I love you too much." Y/n had cut Alex off, only to speak to him in a gentle voice with a sincere smile appearing on their face.

"Are you sure?" He glanced up to make eye contact with them.

"Positive."

"God, I love you Y/n."

"I love you too, Al."

Y/n had been pulled into a hug by their boyfriend. For a moment they both sat there, enjoying one another's embrace. After seconds had passed, Alex pulled away.

"Alright, I think it's time I go back to the flat. Call me when you get home?" A small smile appeared on Alex's face, it had been the first smile of the night.

"Yeah, but Al, before you go I just wanted to apologize. I'm sorry that tonight was date night and I pretty much ignored you." Their smile turned into a frown.

"It's alright, Y/n." Alex hummed, placing a hand on their shoulder, "Call me when you get home?"

"Promise." Y/n nodded, watching their boyfriend exit the car. "Love you!"

"I love you!" Moments after Alex had closed the door, Y/n drove off.
