Finally, for the first time in six months, I was going to be able to sleep in the morning. I had no football commitments. Starting tomorrow, I was a free bird. I got home and parked Cole's bike in the basement. I went to my room and took a hot shower before crashing into my bed. I was still disturbed and mad at Ginna but right now I just wanted to snuggle into the mattress and sleep.
I woke up in the morning to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. As I opened my eyes, I saw Ginna sitting on my bed and placing the mug by my side table.
"Good morning handsome.", She greeted.
"Good morning", I mumbled.
"So how does it feel to wake up in the noon for a change?", she asked sweetly.
"Good", I half-replied.
I wasn't talking to her properly owing to my residual anger from last night. Although seeing her in the morning right in my bed was quickly dissipating my anger but I wasn't going to put my foot down.
"I made some coffee for you. Cole told me you were still sleeping. I came to meet you before going to work."
"hmmm"
"Come on Adrian. At least talk to me. I know you are upset about yesterday. I will do anything to make it up to you."
"Ginna, this isn't the time to talk. I am still pretty vexed at you for what you did last night. Why did you tell me that you weren't ever getting drunk and yesterday you were drunk and out at the party. I had clearly told you to stay away from alcohol and those people but you don't want to listen to what I have to say."
"Adrian, I am sorry."
"This isn't the first time. I am not your babysitter and escorting your drunk ass home isn't the only job I have."
"Look, I am sorry. I got carried away....."
"You were doing pretty okay until Axel offered you a drink. Couldn't you resist his charms? That too when I was standing right beside you?", I cut her in between, sounding pretty infuriated as I was with her.
She scowled at me before equally raising her voice.
"You are taking this the wrong way. That's not what happened in there."
"Ohh geez, I was right there when he smiled at you with his dimpled cheek and bought you the drink. I saw you accepting it with a smile and ogling him all over."
"Yeah. I know if wasn't fair of me to do that. I do realize my mistake and I am sorry for it."
"You were sorry the last time too."
"Come on Adrian, would you just let it go?"
"What about the drinking games? Who told you to get drunk at stupid games? I seriously wouldn't be surprised if I saw you getting stoned with Axel and the rest at the next party."
"Adrian....you know what, I am not going to stand here and listen to this humiliation. Call me when you calm down and can talk without pouncing at me. I came here to apologize and make it upto you, but now you are just being unnecessarily mean.", she grilled me angrily before stomping out of the room and slamming the door behind her.
This is just great. First, she screws up and now she thinks I am the bad person in here. Damn it.
My sour mood had managed to survive till the evening when I finally decided to step up and text Ginna. I informed her that I'll be at her place when she returned from work. I didn't like being mad at her. I was feeling something for someone for the first time and I didn't want to screw it up. I distinctly remember our conversation on communicating with each other. Maybe, I should give her a chance to explain. I walked to her place and Mia let me in. We hung out for some time while I waited for Ginna.
"So it's your first fight right? I hear first fights are always memorable.", she smirked at me.
"Yeah...I guess. She told you she got drunk again yesterday?"
"Figured that one out from her hangover in the morning."
"I had warned her against drinking."
"Chill Adrian. If you talk it out nicely with her, I am sure she will be careful the next time."
Just then we heard the sound of keys fumbling at the door and Mia stood up to open it. Ginna stepped inside and kept her bag on the couch.
"Hi", I said.
"Hi", she replied. She went to her room to get fresh and change.
Mia turned the T.V. on and sat on the couch browsing through her options to watch. The door to Ginna's room creaked open and I walked inside. She had changed into her night shorts and a loose t-shirt. I sat on a chair by her desk and waited for her to say something. She made herself comfortable on the bed and draped a bedsheet around her.
After about a minute's pause, she spoke.
"Adrian, I know it was my fault and I am sorry. You were right, I should have handled the situation better. I thought about it and yeah, I accepted the drink from Axel but it was 'cause I felt intimidated by him. And yes, a part of the reason could have been because he's the captain and is so hot. But believe me, I am not attracted to him. It was a lapse of judgement on my part and I feel terrible about it. I let the peer pressure get the better of me. But trust me, I have had my lesson. It won't happen ever again. I promise I won't get drunk again."
"Are you going to keep your promise this time?"
"Yes, 100%. You can count on me. Never drinking again. And never even getting carried away by other hot guys." I was finally relieved that we were getting somewhere back on track.
"So you find Axel hot ha?", I taunted her in a mock tone.
She got really embarrassed and threw a pillow at me.
"Can you let it pass now?"
"Come on! My girlfriend just confessed she finds some other guy hot. Now that's intimidating to me.", I faked offence.
"Thank god he's out of my league anyway, otherwise today I wouldn't be sitting here with you.", she joked.
If only she knew no one's out of her league.....
I stood up from the chair and climbed on the bed. I crawled into the sheets and knelt right before her pulling her thighs to bring her closer.
"Ohh is that so?", I asked.
Before she could open her mouth, I started tickling her and we ended up giggling on her bed. I kissed her longingly on the lips, possessing her entirely and then kissed a little more until we ended up making out till the dinner was cold.
"Adrian...", she whispered as we lied down on her bed.
"Yes Ginna?"
"For the record, I would choose you over a million Axels even if you were half as handsome you are right now."
Leave it to Ginna for always saying the right things at the right moment. Her affection made me feel on top of the world.
I swung my arms around her and kissed her, letting her feel the warmth of her words on my lips.
"Good to know."
