In 1999, not only does Light find the Death Note and decides to use it to rid the world of evil, but Marie tries to get by as propaganda rises with the Y2K scare. The propaganda dies down when Kira rises and Marie is convinced her prayers have been answered. However, she doesn't know the monster that Kira will become.
