Chapter 21: Not a Great Move

Start from the beginning

Adrian and I sat at a table to enjoy the music played by the band. Logan and Alisha joined us soon afterwards and we sat together making small talk. A little while later, they played my favorite song and I was ready to swing to it. I pulled Adrian to the podium and we danced to 'Shape of you'. This song had the charm to pull ample of people on the dance floor. Those playing the drinking games joined us on the dance floor as well, to sing the chorus together. Similar songs followed as the band tried to amp up the energy of their audience. They didn't have to do much since the alcohol was already playing its role. Everyone had forgotten all about the match and were letting loose.

I discovered that Adrian was a strict non-drinker. Almost all his friends had tried to lure him into drinking with them but he wouldn't budge; maybe take a sip or two but not more than that. However, on my part it was hard to resist the urge when people were stopping by and bringing the cups right to your face. So when Axel stopped by to get us a drink, I couldn't deny. His devastatingly handsome looks intimidated me and I couldn't say no. Adrian glared at me when I accepted the cup and gulped the liquid down. Not a great move Ginna.

In no time was I grooving with the others on my jam and Adrian looked perplexed as the rest followed my lead. When I went back to stand beside Adrian after the song, I knew I had instigated an argument. But before he could say something, a guy from his team forcefully dragged us to play some drinking game with the others. I played safe and took a seat beside Alisha and Logan.

Our glasses were filled and we were reluctantly led into participating in the drinking game played by the seniors. We were in a room occupied mostly by seniors barring me, Logan and Alisha. The band had packed up and the volume of the music had tweaked substantially to avoid any problems with the cops. I searched the room for Adrian and found him surrounded by some drunk girls trying to throw themselves at him. He was already heated at me and the drunk girls were only escalating his temper. I stood up to help him out but the others wouldn't let me leave. The game had already begun and I couldn't quit halfway. Much to my dismay, I was down a few shots already in the game by the time Adrian joined me, I had started to feel a little tipsy.

A little into the game, a lot of people started to leave when the drugs were unleashed. We lost more than half of the strength who decided it was time to get stoned in the basement now. That right there was our que to leave as I leaned onto Adrian, barely able to keep myself awake.

We said goodbyes to Alisha and Logan and many others who I would know from today. Adrian had to escort me to his bike while I had already thrown all my weight on him. Thankfully, he had been passing on some snacks to me while I was playing the games, otherwise I wound have puked all over him by now. I had a good quantity of alcohol in my system to be able to function properly.

He made me wear his jacket and sat me on his motor bike. I clutched tightly onto him and slept on his back while he drove off.

Adrian's POV

Ginna was fast asleep on my back when we reached her apartment. I was so mad at her for getting drunk again and almost repeating the fresher incident. I was fuming but I couldn't even channel out my anger on her. Why did she have to get lured into drinking by Axel's offer? She had pretty much managed to say no to the others then why did she accept a drink from Axel. I liked the guy but I certainly didn't appreciate him getting my girlfriend drunk. I had warned her about something like this and had given her clear instructions that we weren't supposed to hang around at the party for long. But she couldn't hold off drinking with the others and played stupid drinking games.

I always knew Ginna was a social person but when she got intimidated like that by peer pressure, it exasperated me. Being her boyfriend, it even bothered me when she broke her word of never getting drunk again and irresponsibly got drunk again. I am sure the guys at the party must have really loved her with her dancing and the social games. It was good to know that my team buddies really liked my girlfriend but getting her drunk did not bode well with me. I escorted Ginna into her room and helped her remove my jacket. I tucked her in her bed and left from there.
