Kenma's POV

We sat and ate our food in comfortable silence, Kuroo got some pancakes while I got waffles. Part of me was still fearing my mother, fearing that some how she'd walk into this cafe and drag me back home, but the other part of me was completely relaxed. Whether it's true or not, I felt like if I was with Kuroo nothing would go wrong. I don't really understand emotions or relationships with other people, the only person I really see is my mother and I despise her. So, I don't really know what it feels like to like someone and be around them. Of course I like my father, but he isn't around much. I don't think I like Kuroo though, at least not in the same way I like my father or I liked Shoyo. I like to think of myself as pretty smart but at the end of the day I have the emotional intelligence of a toddler.

I noticed Kuroo texting on his phone a bit before our food arrived but he put it away to eat, until his phone went off again, this time a call. I couldn't make out what the other person was saying but I know they were screaming since I could vaguely hear their voice.

"Can you calm down I don't know what you're saying." Kuroo hushed the person on the phone and I could no longer hear their voice. However, after a bit of a pause he looked up at me. "That's not a bad idea." He gave me a smirk as if he was planning something, it kinda made me nervous but then again I trust him enough to not get me killed. "How's three? If you go straight from school you guys should make it." "Ok good, we'll meet you guys there then." He said goodbye and hung up the phone keeping his eyes on me, I gave him a confused look in response. "I've got a great idea for what are should do later."

'You having a great idea? Don't think so.' He really does set himself up for my insults and I just can't help myself.

"I have great ideas all the time I'll have you know. Anyways I think you should meet my friends from school." The idea of meeting new people has never been fond to me, not that I ever had the chance to do it really, but the stories he told me about his friends made me a bit interested. Plus I'd never really been apart of a group before, even when I did go to school it was just Shoyo and I. I thought it over for a second before giving him my answer.

'Ok.' It was a pretty simple response but he seemed to light up at the idea. We both went back to our meals, he seemed to be excited about later. Even though Kuroo was focused on his food, I couldn't help but keep my mind on him. I liked the way he looked when he got excited.

"We've got time to kill till they get out of school, want to play some video games?" By now we were walking back towards Kuroo's house. I shook my head yes, trying to seem less happy then I was. I spent almost all my time on video games at home so I was rather excited to do something I loved with Kuroo.

I was thankful that his parents still weren't home when we got back so I could avoid any awkward conversations. I knew eventually I'd have to speak to them since I've got a feeling I'll be here for a bit. I sat on Kuroo's bed as he plugged in the controls and pulled out multiple games, allowing me to pick one. I scanned through them all, it was a small collection compared to mine, and picked out one I was rather familiar with. He popped it in and sat down next to me, brushing up against my arm. My heart stopped for a moment and my face heated up. Was I embarrassed? Of what? He handed me a controller and we began to play.

"How are you so good at this?" He angrily tossed his controller onto his bed after losing his 10th game.

'I play a lot.' I decided to not tell him that I've mastered this game before. He grabbed another chip from the bag he'd brought up and hit play again. I also grabbed a chip before preparing to destroy him in the next game. After only a few minutes, the quickest game yet, I'd won again.

"Kenma what the fuck why are you actually like really good at this?" He sounded genuinely confused at this point, I couldn't help but silently laugh at him.
