•~~Chapter Five~~•

Start from the beginning

I turned quickly to Titi when I realized I was keeping her waiting for too long. With a series of gestures, I told her 'sorry, bye, talk to you later'. She understood and waved goodbye.

Back to Rera.

"Rera. Come on let's find somewhere to sit and talk," I suggested.

We sauntered towards one of the classes on the last block and I intentionally took my steps behind her, so I could get a clear view of her bumper.

God! I wasn't usually that way. My mind definitely needed cleansing. My good mind conflicted with the bad mind but the bad one proved to be more powerful. I had my eyes fixed on the yansh until we got to the class.

The class had its benches and desks out of order. Some of the desks were on top of another. Most of the benches were broken and littered. The two windows in front were the only ones left open, making the end of the class rather dark.

One of the good benches we found was at the end of the class. We sat side-by-side on the same bench and remained quiet for a while. The silence was weird and I could sense the presence of the bad man himself, the devil.

Get thee behind me.

"So..." I spoke.

"So. What?" she asked.

"So, as we were saying. I was serious about that message. It's really how I feel about you. I'm not sure I've felt this way with any other girl before." I hung my locked fingers behind my neck, rested my head on the wall behind me, and stared at her. Lips.

"Stop it. Stop looking at me that way," she said, wavering her hands in my eyes.

Okay. It was time to do the magic. I released my hands from my neck, held her hands, and rubbed her fingers gently with my thumb whilst I continued to stare.

"How am I looking at you?" I smiled. "Maybe I'm looking at you in a way that clearly shows I can't hide my emotions when I'm around you. I really like you Aderera. I really really do."

She remained quiet and returned the stare. My eyes were focused on her cute little lips. The magic was working and all that was in my head was how I could feel how soft her lips were. Not with my hands but my lips.

Unwittingly, our fingers locked together. Our legs came close, and I could feel her laps kneading mine. The distance between us continued to narrow as we got close to shutting our eyes and puckering up.

Fast forward. Close curtains. Not for kids.

Ten minutes of greatness. It was my best moment in the town and I wished it lasted longer. I just couldn't get enough of it.

I wasn't the only happy one. It was obviously mutual. The bright smile she gave after saying goodnight said it all.

I returned home happy with beautiful smiles on my face and all sorts of Ed Sheeran songs playing in my head. I couldn't wait to give Olamipo the gist of the night. I couldn't wait to tell her how sweet it was to kiss royal lips.

But something else was waiting for me in the house. I met my dad first in the living room when I entered the house. He sat leg crossed on the couch with his arms stretched out.

"Daddy, good evening." I bent, almost touching my feet quickly with the tip of my fingers.

"Good evening. Come here!" he said slowly.

Slowly. Whenever my dad spoke his words one after the other, it means he was not happy about something. Something that could possibly upset him.

"Daddy, what happened?" I asked.

He reached for a white sheet that sat beside him on the couch before stretching it towards me.

"I found this at the door when I came back home this afternoon. Have it."

'YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE? STAY AFAR FROM THE PRINCESS OR WE COME YOUR WAY. LAST WARNING. STAY DOWN!'

When I opened the sheet, I burst into laughter before I could even finish reading what was written in it.

What the-? This guy again?

'Stay down' was the red-headed guy's language. He probably would die if he didn't mention that word to me once.

"And what is so funny? Someone dropped a threat-note in front of my house and you're opening your teeth. After telling you guys to stay away from trouble and behave yourselves. Tell me, what gan did get yourself into with the princess?" He raised his voice at me.

"Daddy, it-" I said, almost laughing again. "Daddy, it's nothing serious. Those guys are just whining. We don't need to worry about it."

"We don't need to worry? I clearly warned you guys against these people. I knew I did. In fact, to avoid more trouble because you guys can be unbelievable, we're leaving the day after the festival. The first thing on Sunday morning, we are going back to Lagos. So, prepare yourselves." He sprung from the couch, grabbed his newspaper from the table and headed towards his room.

Leave next day keh!

"Daddy, are you talking about the festival that is in two days?" I asked loudly after he left the living room.

God! Why does it always happen when I'm getting close to a girl? Why na? First was Tolani, now is Rera.

"Daddy, we'll stay longer o," I shouted again from the living room.
