Chapter 25

"Kahit lumabas ka lang saglit. Five minutes..three...or one minute...kahit 30 seconds pa, makita lang kita. Gustong gusto na kita makita. Sobrang miss na kita. D-Di mo ba ako na-mi-miss?" he sighed.

"Huwag mo na lang pala sagutin...kahit alam ko naman na di mo ko kakausapin." natawa sya ng mapakla. "Okay lang kahit di mo ako na-mi-miss basta huwag mo lang ako sukuan, please? Huwag mo isusuko yung pagmamahal mo sa akin ah? I know galit ka sa akin ngayon. I understand and I've accepted that but please don't forget our love. M-Mahal mo pa naman ako di ba?" patuloy ang pagtulo ng mga luha ni Marcus.

"I've come here and didn't go the office kasi di ko na talaga kaya...I really wanted to see you. I want to know if you're okay? Kayo ni baby? I know..you told me to give you space pero di--hindi ko na talaga natiis, sweetheart. Sorry for being so stubborn." and he wipes the tears on his face.

Lumipas ang isa at kalahating oras pero di pa rin sya pinagbubuksan ng pinto ni Annika. Ni hindi nya narinig ang boses nito. Nanlulumo itong tumayo at hinarap ang pinto ng kwarto.

"Annika, aalis na ako. You can come out after few minutes. I'm sorry kung hindi ko nagawa yung pinag-usapan natin. I'll try my best to give you the time that you needed. Alagaan mo lagi yung sarili mo okay? Take care of our baby. Kumain ka lagi sa oras and if you need anything just tell me or lola so I can give it to you." then a minute passed by, pero walang narinig na sagot pa rin si Marcus.

"I'll go ahead. I love you and our baby, always." saka ito malungkot na naglakad palayo ng kwarto.

He went back to Manila and came home with nothing. Empty house. Dumiretso sya agad ng kwarto at uminom ng whiskey. He turned on the television and just stare at it while drinking the bottle of whiskey on his hand. Sobrang tahimik sa apat na sulok ng kanilang kwarto at ang tanging ingay lang ay ang nagmumula sa telebisyon. Sobrang lungkot. Sobrang sakit ng nararamdaman nya sa dibdib na para itong tinutusok. A song was played on the television and was requested by one of the viewers.

Nagpakalunod si Marcus sa alak. He just to forget that he is hurting even just for a minute. Wishing that this is just a bad dream and he'll wake up with his wife beside him.

Ginawang routine ni Marcus ang pumasok sa trabaho, mag-overtime at umuwi para magpakalunod sa alak hanggang sa makatulog. Nalaman nila Scarlett ang nangyayari kay Marcus at agad itong pinuntahan sa bahay. Nadatnan nila itong natutulog sa sofa sa kwarto at nasa lapag ang mga bote ng alak. Agad na dinaluhan ni Scarlett ang anak.

"Marcus, wake up." and gently taps him on the shoulder. Nagising agad si Marcus sa pag-aakalang ang asawa nya ito.

"Annika!" but he immediately realized that it was his mother in front of him.

"Mom...what are you doing here?" saka umupo at napahilamos sa mukha. Napahilot sya sa sintido sa sakit ng ulo. Umupo si Scarlett sa tabi nya at binigyan naman sya ng tubig ng ama na nakatayo sa harap nya.

"What happened, Marcus?" Matthew asked. Marcus just deeply sighed.

"Son, you do you know we're always here for you. Please tell us what happened anak."pakiusap ni Scarlett. Di rin naman natiis ni Marcus ang mga magulang at kinuwento na rito ang mga nangyari.

"Just give her time, son. I know you both will work it out." sabi ni Matthew sa anak.

"But I want her back, Dad. I badly miss her." at tila parang naiiyak na naman ito.

"Then let's do something. Kausapin natin ang lolo at lola nya para makapag-usap kayo ulit ni Annika. Or you can stay there for the meantime; for sure your Dad won't mind handling the business again." Scarlett suggested.

"Stop with that plan, Scarlett." seryosong saway ni Matthew sa asawa.

"Why? I just want to help our son. Look at him, hindi ka ba naawa sa anak natin?" naiinis na sagot ni Scarlett.

"I know, but manipulating and forcing Annika will make her hate your son more. This is the very reason why she asked him for space. Why she decided to leave this house because it's hurting her to know that the one she loves had lied to her." paliwanag ni Matthew.

"But Matthew, I cannot let our son be like this! We should do something..gagawin ko lahat para di lang masaktan ng ganito yung anak natin." he pulls her up and hugged her.

"Honey, alam ko naman nagaalala ka lang sa anak natin at ako rin naman." then he kissed her forehead and wipes the tear on her eye.

"But we shouldn't make the same mistake that we made when we were younger. We shouldn't let our son do the same mistake that we did. Let us give Annika the time that she needs, let's respect that. Okay?" mahinahon na pakiusap ni Matthew sa asawa at yumakap ito pabalik saka sumang-ayon dito.
