I'm lying in the middle of the street stargazing.
I know I should be smarter but I just can't think properly. To be totally honest I've had quite a few shots of tequila... and vodka and rum, and my dumbass being me decided it was a fantastic time to go on an adventure.
I grabbed my best friend Vanessa to come with me but she passed out on the floor before we could even make it to the door. Her boyfriend grabbed her and made her comfortable on the couch and I decided to take on the beautiful world of the night on my own.
I wasn't at a party but just having fun with my friend group. Most of them had passed out at this point, but for some reason alcohol always gave me tons of energy and I just had to go for a run. It was about 3:00 in the morning and the sky was clear of clouds like it always was in beautiful California.
While the whole drought issue was definitely bad I couldn't deny how convenient it was that we never had rain. The worst we would get was the morning haze since we lived so close to the ocean but even then it would burn off by the afternoon.
I basically lived in paradise. Walking distance from the beautiful beaches, perfect weather, a comfortable house that I lived in with my happy family. The only downside was probably the awful smell that sometimes came from the seals and birds that were always lounging around and sunbathing.
My older brother moved away to university in Oregon a few years ago and I miss him, but I'll be moving out too in a few months so I wasn't too upset. I wasn't the greatest student and we weren't super rich, but we've saved up and I was admitted to UC Irvine a few days ago.
They had an amazing business program that I couldn't wait to take advantage of.
Anyways, life was pretty much falling into place for me but I couldn't help but be annoyed at how boring it was. I'd never really had any real boyfriends. I had dated a couple but it never really went anywhere. My friends didn't cause any drama which I was definitely relieved about but at the same time, when it doesn't involve you its pretty entertaining...
I didn't really have a passion in life. I really didn't like science or history and I was only okay at math. I wasn't amazing at any sports yet I was fit and could play all of them alright, just nothing spectacular. I was just normal. Not amazing and not horrible. Always just somewhere in the middle.
I looked a little exotic with my permanently tanned skin and mane of loosely curly brown hair that switched between beach waves and tight curls depending on the day. My eyes were an extremely bright blue, which paired with my darker skin was definitely a shocker and out of the ordinary to most people.
Anyways, today was easter and since I wasn't at all religious I decided to meet up with a few of my friends and have a little fun.
After hours of drinking and doing stupid shit with my friends I decided I had to go to the beach immeditaely. I'm not sure they noticed that I'd left since they were all pretty much out of it. They probably thought I had passed out somewhere like everyone else.
Oops?
Of course my drunk ass couldn't find the beach that was literally 5 minutes away so after stumbling around for a while, trying to figure out where the hell I was, I decided to lie down and contemplate my life choices. I wasn't popular but I wasn't unpopular. I had a good amount of friends and knew most of the people in my grade but I wasn't some queen bee or anything like that. I just kind of get along with everyone and I can be pretty chatty when I'm bored which definitely happens a lot in school.
While I was thinking about my life up until now and complaining to myself about how boring and normal my life was I was way too lost in my own little world. Mix that with the fact that I was lying drunk in the middle of the road while it was pitch black outside and I'm pretty sure you could guess what was going to happen.
