Jody sat on the large couch patiently observing her long found friend.
He was walking here and fro, his right hand held towards his right ear where a white device was embedded in the crazy black nest of his hair. His pale face had upon it a smile which although was normally contagious, it made her envious. She had no idea who was on the receiving side but whoever it was, she didn't like them. They had been talking for ages now, she concluded as her head tilted up to find the certain round drum with two black arrows pinned together in the middle - one longer than the other. Each arrow aiming towards a numerical figure painted, also in black.

She stared at it for a while counting each 60 seconds until the long line slightly moved. When she reached 120, she felt boredom engulf her and therefore her legs began to trail away as a sigh escaped her mouth.

"Jodes, where you going?"

Her feet automatically took a halt as soon as she heard him. He mentioned 'Jodes'. The nickname he has given her and her ears lightened after years of unimaginable yearning, satisfied in a flash. She missed it. She missed it a lot. Her heart had begun racing rapidly again as she turned to face him.

"Ohh, you finished?" She questioned, attempting to conceal her fluttering emotions.

"Yeah, sorry took a while." He admitted stepping closer. "You're leaving...already?"

The silence between the two last words enveloped the room with rhetorical questions. Jody couldn't help but focus her mind onto his words. What did he mean by already? Did he also miss her just like she did or is she thinking too much?

Vigorously shaking her head, she answered back. "Nahh, you can't get rid of me that easily."

"Good." She heard him exhale deeply. "Coz I cannot imagine staying away again."

"What?" She cried and immediately regretted it. She didn't want it to happen but it was a slip of her tongue and so, uncontrollable but all it did was ruin to what in her eyes seemed like a short blissful moment. Why did she have to say something and not just wait till he answers himself? Now it was for sure going to get awkward again.

Her breath hitched when she could feel his presence gradually moving closer, heart probably skipping each beat. The scratching of the velcro on his shoes as they take hold of the wriggly long carpet underneath caused the desperation of her heart to increase, beckoning her to stay still. Before she knew it, his lean muscular body was towering over her forming a shadow which showed security rather than darkness as her eyes searched directly above to look into his.

She knew no boundaries as her hand went numb feeling the warmth and softness which he intertwined between her fingers. They stood their firm as if ensuring her that they'll never let go whilst the thumb's gentle caressing settled goosebumps all over. What was he doing she didn't know but she won't be lying because she knew she obviously loved it.

Maybe her feeling wasn't unrequited.

"You're my ONLY best friend." He finally spoke, (his breath sending shrills down her spine), exaggerating on the word only, but, the agitated woman could only hear 'best friend' echoing in her ears. "You get me all the time. I need you."

For a while she stood still, watching their hands wrapped around each others whilst trying to recall his actions, his behaviour and his words. He says she gets him all the time but her spiteful heart doubted it. It doesn't seem like she does and she's totally oblivious but if she tells him that, would he stay? She can't afford to lose him again and then go through that turmoil...again.
