Prologue

Andra Celestine Xanford

"I love you, and I will do everything to make you stay," I can see tears that is forming from his eyes.

He held my cheek and caressed it gently. "Don't leave me here all alone, Andra. I need you and you promised, remember?" I tried my best not to cry but I just can't. The emotion is overflowing and I can't contain it anymore.

"I can't stay, Calix..." I said while sobbing.

Ang sakit tanggapin na hindi ko kayang manatili sa tabi ng mahal ko. Ang hirap isipin na iiwan ko siya at mag pakalayo-layo upang makatakas sa sakit na aking nararamdaman.

"Andra, you promised that you'll never leave me. Sabi mo dito ka lang. Sabi mo 'di mo ako iiwan, pero ano 'to, Andra? Bakit ka aalis?" My heart is aching.

Parang pinipiga ang puso ko sa tuwing may tutulong luha mula sa mga mata ng mahal ko. "I'm sorry," was all I can say.

I don't know how to explain it to him. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko siya iiwan ng hindi ko siya nasasaktan. I promised that I won't leave him, but look what I'm doing right now.

"Andra, please. I will do anything you asked, just please don't leave me." Hearing him beg is breaking my heart into pieces.

I've known him for being strong and ruthless. He never beg for the things that he wanted. Nakukuha niya ang lahat ng gusto niya ng walang kahirap-hirap. Hindi ko aakalain na ang isang lalaking hinahabol at pinag kakaguluhan ng mga babae ay mag mamakaawa at iiyak sa harapan ko.

"I really can't stay. I need to stay away from you. We can't be together anymore. I'm sorry," I tried to walk away but he just grab my arm and pulled me to cage me in his arms.

"Andra, please don't. I can't live without you." Naramdaman kong nababasa ang aking suot na t-shirt ng dahil sa mga luhang tumutulo galing sa kanyang napakagandang mata.

"Gusto mo ba lumuhod pa ako sa harapan mo para lang hindi mo ako iwan? Sasama ako pauwi sayo at kakausapin ko ang parents m-" I cut him off and gathered all my strength to remove his arms that is hugging me.

My heart is pounding so loud because of what he said. "Don't you dare! Wag na wag mong gagawin 'yang binabalak mo! Please, just leave me alone! Let me live my life peacefully! I can't have you in my life anymore! Ginamit lang naman kita para kalimutan siya, kaya pwede ba! Tumigil ka na!" I was triggered by what he was about to say earlier that's why I need to lie in order for him to stop.

Masakit rin para sa akin ang mga pinag gagagawa at sinasabi ko, pero wala akong choice! Kung hindi ko sasabihin 'yon baka madamay pa siya!

Ayoko siyang mapahamak ng dahil sa kagagawan ko.

"Ginamit? What do you mean by that, Andra? At sinong siya?!" I can see anger in his eyes.

He held both of my shoulders and forced me to tell him who I was talking about at my statement. "Sinong siya, Andra?" Ramdam ko ang galit sa bawat bigkas niya ng mga salita.

Nag baba ako ng tingin sa aking paanan at iniwasan ang mga mata niyang nag aapoy na sa galit. Sinubukan ko uling kumawala sa mga hawak niya, ngunit hindi ko na nagawa. "Answer me!" He shouted.

I bit my lower lip and tried to stop my tears from falling. "My..." He held my chin and he made me look at him. "Your what?"

I took a deep breath and gathered all the strength that left in me and I look straight into his eyes. "My husband."

Nakita ko ang gulat at ramdam ko ang pang hihina ni Calix. I took that opportunity to free myself and turn my back to him and run away.

I run to save his life.

I run to save his future.

I run to save us from commiting another sin.

I run from the man that I loved to give him the chance to find a women that is pure, and not tied to someone else.
