Chapter 16: Sweaty and Smelly

On Sunday I decided to start off working on my project. I needed some data from the university database which is why I found myself in the library at 10am on a cold Sunday morning. I had to report at the store by 1, so I decided to make it quick. By 11:30 I was done procuring my data. I left from the library to sit in the canteen and have my lunch peacefully. I ordered my favorite soup with barbecued rice and sniffed at the sauce. As I was having my lunch, my thoughts drifted towards Adrian by default. It was as if he occupied my mind the moment, I had nothing better to engage in.

The white shirt he was wearing that day made him look so hot.

No Ginna, you aren't supposed to have those thoughts. I chided myself. As I was trying to chuck that train of thoughts, I spotted Adrian prancing in my direction. He was wearing his football jersey and shorts and was dripping sweat all over.

Why does he have to look so sexy with all the sweat!

I couldn't help drooling as he gulped some water down his throat. When those small trinkets of water started grazing down his face, I wished I could just be a molecule in that drop. Oh my god, this is so embarrassing. I need to really stop.

He sat across me. I lowered my gaze to avoid meeting his eyes as my face flushed.

"Hi", he said.

"Hi", I replied meekly.

"What are you doing over here on a Sunday?"

"I had some work in the library." I couldn't even run away from there. I had just started digging through my lunch.

There was a pregnant pause before he decided to break it.

"Ginna, I am sorry for reacting the way I did that day. It's just that I wasn't expecting it."

"It's okay Adrian. Just forget it." Now why would he want to bring that up?

"You only said Ginna, you couldn't forget it."

"Can you please let this go Adrian. I shouldn't have confessed to you in the first place. It was dumb. Just forget it okay?"

"Yes, you shouldn't have told me. But now that it's out, we have to do something about it."

"Yeah. I suggest we should forget it." Why was he discussing such a complex topic right now?

"If that's what you want Ginna." There was a pregnant pause again which made me want to kill myself.

"By the way, I just came here to tell you I was ready to take a chance on you. But if you don't want to, we can forget it.", he said with his signature smirk.

"What?" I couldn't believe my ears.

"Look Ginna, I am shitting bricks to try this out. You know I am an amateur when it comes to people and relationships. I have never had a significant relationship with anyone in my life, let alone romantic. But with you Ginna, its different. I look forward to the time I spend with you. The last few months have been better than my entire life and it was because of you. I am scared as shit to be involved with you but the possibility of not having you in my life horrifies me even more...."

How was he so capable of saying all the right things when he's not even a people's person?

His heartfelt confession tugged at my heart strings. This was even sweeter than what he had said while giving me that necklace. I didn't even listen to the rest of his speech after that. The stress of the entire week evaporated from my skin pores, replaced by an overwhelming urge to hug him. I acted on the instinct and sprinted to hug him tightly. I didn't care how sweaty and smelly he was right now. I had finally gotten Adrian to do something so out of his league and I wasn't going to let urea ruin the moment.

I threw my weight on him taking him by surprise. He hugged me back and we stayed like that in the middle of the canteen for a good minute before stepping back. I was so happy; I could jump over a hundred fucking trampolines and dance to 'I feel Pretty' all night. 

Adrian Beckham was with me finally and I was going to celebrate to that.
