take off your mask

"who are you?" I ask

show your face

then play your ace

I see the lies

hidden in your eyes

you don't fool me

I need to feel free

I want to be alone

unbothered, untouched

by the world's hands

what a cruel twist of fate, indeed

what has once been shattered

cannot be put back together

our memories are tattered

and cannot be treasured

feeding off my insecurity

to make yourself feel lovely

lacking in maturity,

yet you are the one I pity

I see your fears,

I swallow my tears,

and feel nothing

for the next few years

your words deceived me

now your cover is blown

my life you won't torment

into the unknown

your deception is futile

because I have grown

from a cruel twist of fate

that was set in stone
