John Laurens was suicidal, which I'm guessing is why he wasn't very careful while fighting in the war. Washington even claimed that he wasn't surprised Laurens had been killed since he was very reckless in battle.
I also heard somewhere, don't remember where though, that Hamilton was aware of his suicidal thoughts and would try to help him.
