Laid to rest

Autumn~

~one week later~

Today it the day I've been avoiding the day that's been marked on my calendar since the doctors told me...

We arrived at the hospital moments later my family gathered in her room to see her final moments living...
"I'm so sorry are you ok," My cousin said trying to hug me and I flinched 

"I'm fine Elise thank you" I kissed her cheek as I hugged her tears were forming as I looked at my mother in the hospital bed hardly breathing on her own everything she has endured and suffered and her beautiful Carmel skin was now a pale white-ish grey I held Armani in my free hand as I rocked her back and forth with my other arm still in a white cast that matches my white dress and Armani's white shirt and tutu her dad is in the same hospital I looked towards my uncle and he had tears streaming down his face I went to him and hugged him as soon as I hugged him I broke down crying as I looked into his eyes and saw all the hurt and pain and he looked towards my mother in the hospital bed I handed Armani to Elise

"I'm so sorry I failed you, Dani," he said

"You didn't fail her " I briefly paused "no one in this room failed her my mom was hurting and she lost the fight she was strong for too long" I cleared my throat

 "My mother went through a lot and she stayed strong for her kids and went through Hell and back because she loved the wrong man, and she stayed with him and believed him and loved him with everything in her he broke her down and she couldn't take it anymore," I said now crying because this is so relevant to me 

"Mom," I said looking to ceiling "I love you so much and I'm so sorry I couldn't save you this time I'm so sorry. I love you so much mom and I'll tell my daughter all about you and I promise I'll meet you again one day" I wiped my tears

"I know I never had a relationship with you mom but I love you so much and I wish I got to see you sooner I'm gonna make you proud mama I promise," Adonis said crying at her bedside holding her cold hands he kissed her forehead everyone said there goodbye speeches and the doctors were standing in the hallway

 "You can come in now," I said to the doctors we watched as the pulled the plug on my Mothers life and the monitors went flat I stared at her she finally looked happy and at peace tears escaped my red swollen eyes as they paid their respects to me and my family I slowly slid down in the chair next to me as Elise handed me Armani I thought she was gonna make it I thought she was gonna meet my baby I thought she was gonna be there for me when I couldn't sleep at night I thought she would be here when I wasn't ok or when I couldn't take care of Armani I never thought my mother would be Laid to rest... a nurse came into the room 

"Ma'am Lucas Coly requests to see you"

"o-ok tell him I'll be up there in a second," I said wiping my tears

"My condolences," she said nodding her head

I walked down the hallway to the elevator with Armani in her stroller and her baby bag in one on my shoulder and my other arm in a cast pushing her stroller I struggling all because of Lucas I knew better than to get in a relationship with him I should've known better I thought to myself as a man entered the elevator on the second floor I couldn't see who he was or barely hear him because he had a mask on

"You need help with that?" He asked me pointing to my bags  

"U-Um no I'm ok" I flashed a fake smile

"You sure?" He asked again

"Yes I'm fine sir," I said growing irritated even though I needed help I wasn't gonna get beat by Lucas because I need help to carry some bags as I got off the elevator the man got off with me Armani started crying I reached in her bag for a pacifier and just as I did that everything spilled out my purse as I reached for my belongings the same man got them for me 

"I said I don't need help, sir," I said now mad because we are right in front of Lucas's room

"I know you did but you need help don't you?"

I just sighed and proceeded to give Armani her pacifier and rocked the stroller slightly so she could fall asleep he handed me my belongings

"Thank you," I said walking away and stepping into Lucas's room he was already looking at me 

"Hey baby," I said smiling nervously because his door was open so he could see everything I set my bag on the chair next to his bed put Armanis baby bag under the stroller so I wouldn't have to carry it and unbuckled Armani out of her car seat but left her in there taking my mask off

"How are you doing?" I asked quietly

"HOW YOU THINK IM DOING HUH?" I flinched at the volume of his tone

"Baby you shouldn't yell your ches-" he cut me off

"Don't tell me what to do Autumn"

"I'm sorry" I looked down

"Who was that dude you were talking to and DON'T, lie to me Autumn," he asked 

"I-I don't know who he is I was coming from downstairs and h-he got on the elevator with me and asked me if I needed help and I said no and then I got off and m-my stuff spilled out my purse an-" Lucas cut me off

 "Why are you lying you know how I feel when you lie to me Autumn" he got out the bed a grabbed by my throat and punched me in the eye and hit me repeatedly he hit my arm and a stinging pain ran through my arm

"I'm sorry" I cried as a reflex I hit him in the chest he groaned in pain as he dropped me I covered my eye and got the stroller and left the room crying but because I was crying Armani woke up and started crying I put the pacifier in her mouth she was still crying I sat in the lobby and took her out the stroller 

"Hey mamas baby" I felt her diaper and it was wet 

"Ok let's go change you," I said to her walking the family restroom with her baby bag on my shoulder mind you, my hand is still broken I changed her diaper the best I could with one hand I saw my uncle walk past the restroom

"Uncle!" I called out to him

"Autumn?" he said looking at me 

"C-can you take me home please"

"What happened to your face sobrina" (niece) 

"It's just because I've been crying alot I'm fine," I said walking to the stroller and putting her in there

"What happened to your neck! Autumn Jae Mari-

"I'm fine Tio I promise just let it go please"

"I swear on my mothers grave If I find out that boy hitting you its gonna be over for him," he said as we walked out in the parking lot

"Tomorrow we meet with the lawyers," he said as we got in the car I sat in the bask seat with Armani

"For what?" I asked nervously I looked in the mirror in the car and seen all these bruises and scratches on my neck, face, and chest

"Because your mom had a will and as you know your mom was pretty wealthy and we have to figure out what's in her will and the lawyers said we better get it over with so..."

"Ok can you come get me in the morning I can't drive"

"Of course I got you, baby girl"

"Thank you," I said with a genuine smile we got home and I took my mask off and sat Armani on the floor she was sleep I took her up to her room and sat her in the crib I walked to the bed in her room and collapsed onto it and cried myself to sleep
