Growing up
I was told not to breathe
Because good girls
Can hold their breath
Better than the rest
Growing up
I was told to trust
Because good girls
Never question guys
Even when there's lies
Growing up
I was told to watch my figure
Because good girls
Don't want to be bigger
For boys it's a trigger
Growing up
I was told to be giving
Because good girls
Are selfless
Even if it means
Hurting yourself
To let them grow
And so I go
With false ideals
Wondering why
My scars never heal
