chapter 67: actions speak louder than words

"Hold on a second-" Hyejin's lit up all of a sudden. "Did he really just say... no reporters?"

Chungha frowned. "Yeah, why?"

Hyejin was getting onto something. "So... non-reporters can view the footage?"

"What?" Chungha scoffed, evidently surprised by Hyejin's way of thinking. "Um... I don't think so? I mean, if we're requesting to view that particular footage by that particular CCTV... I doubt he'll agree-"

Hyejin grinned. "We don't have to request to view that particular footage then."

The look of surprise on Chungha's face turned into realisation. "Wow..."

"He has seen you but not me, sunbae-nim-" Hyejin wriggled her eyebrows. "I'll play the random passerby who left my wallet in the warehouse, while you'll play the grateful reporter delivering coffee to express your gratitude for his time. He turns away... boom! Mission accomplished."

Chungha was left speechless for a few seconds. "Are you sure you've really only just started becoming an official reporter a week ago?"

Hyejin laughed shyly. "Well..."

"Let's go then," Chungha said with a little wink as she headed towards the car. "Ahn Hyejin gija-nim."

"Is your knee okay?" Jungkook asked, glancing down at Jieun's knee, when they turned the lights on a while later. "The fall looked pretty bad earlier."

Jieun nodded slowly. "It really hurts."

"That guy earlier..." Jungkook shook his head with a sigh. "It's really irresponsible of him to injure you with the box and run away after creating trouble."

Jieun shrugged. "The director is insanely fierce, so I kinda understand why he did that. He probably already gets scolded on a daily basis by him and didn't wanna get into more trouble."

"Doesn't justify anything-" Jungkook shook his head as he slid down from the couch onto the floor, getting on one knee as he bent over to examine Jieun's injury. "Let me see."

Jieun pulled her leg back instinctively, clearly taken aback by Jungkook's sudden action. "It's okay, you don't have to-"

Jungkook glanced up at Jieun and furrowed his eyebrows. "Let me see."

Hesitantly, Jieun extended her leg forward once more. "It's actually not that bad-"

"It's bleeding."

Jieun pursed her lips, her face blushing immensely as she felt Jungkook's fingers briefly graze the area surrounding her injury. "Oh, is it...?"

"You need to get this treated immediately-" Jungkook nodded and looked up at Jieun, who looked away immediately, clearly trying to hide her pink-tinted cheeks. "You hear me?"

Jieun bit her lower lip and nodded. "Mm."

"Aigoo... look at this..." Jungkook winced as he examined the wound more closely. "It looks like the last time I pushed you and your fell and scraped your knee..."

Inch by inch, Jieun turned to glance at Jungkook once more. He was bent over, blowing gently at her bleeding knee. But she was no longer bothered by the pain as she stared at her, a small smile playing at her lips. The scrape on her knee reminded her so much of the first time they met a month ago...
