chapter 63: out of the ordinary

If anything, they were exes, so there was no reason why he should be upset. And even if he was upset, why did she care? They were over, she had vowed to herself never to make the same mistake twice. Even if he sweared that he had changed over the years, she wasn't willing to take the risk to find out. After all, the scars he had given her still felt like they were fresh and new. Then why was she still so bothered by the fact that he was treating her differently...? Why did she care so freaking much about he thought?

"What?" Hoseok repeated. "Is there anything you need to say to me...?"

Chungha swallowed her anger and shook her head. "No, nothing in particular."

"Alright then." Hoseok nodded as he put on his headphones. "Enjoy your lunch."

Chungha grabbed her wallet, stuck out her tongue in Hoseok's direction and stormed towards the exit.

Jieun hadn't spoken to Jungkook since the night before.

"Jieun-ah, so you'll be over at that corner... I know you're just a makeup artist, but we need extra hands today, so thank you for agreeing to help. You just need to lift up that corner of the curtain and shake it a little, make it have the billowing type of effect-" Seokjin paused as he waved a hand in front of Jieun's face. "Hello...? Jieun-ah? Lee Jieun-ssi?"

"Huh?" Jieun snapped back to attention at once. "Sorry, what did you say? I spaced out a little back there, I'm really sorry-"

"What's wrong with you?" Seokjin folded his arms with a frown. "This is your fifth time zoning out today, is everything alright?"

Sleep. Or rather, the lack of. She didn't sleep well last night, thinking her decision over and over, wondering if she had made the right decision indeed.

Worry. Tons of worry, worrying about Jungkook, and if she had said the wrong things and made Jungkook more upset than she should have. And also, about what she was supposed to do from here.

Distraction. Constantly peering in Jungkook's direction, wondering if he'll ever speak to her again. Maybe not speaking to him all the way till she quit seemed like the best decision, but it was way too torturous for Jieun - in fact, she felt like her resolve was already starting to crumble.

"Yeah, everything is just fine, oppa-" Jieun put on a huge smile. "Sorry, I promise not to blank out anymore. What were you saying before this?"

"Forget it, you look exhausted-" Seokjin sighed. "I know you've been working extra hard this entire morning, trying to get everything together and ready for the music video shoot as well. Why don't you take a short break? I'll ask Shuhua to do it instead."

"No-" Jieun objected at once. "I'll do it, oppa. I can do it, don't worry."

"Do you still remember what I said earlier?"

Jieun nodded her head slowly. "Yeah, I think so."

"Don't mess it up, alright?" Seokjin warned Jieun. "The director only has half a day to get this music video done."

Jieun nodded. "I got it."

Seokjin headed off.

"Okay, alright!" The director came onto set at that very moment, clapping his hands to get everyone's attention. "Everyone, standby! Filming starts in 5 minutes!"

Jieun pursed her lips nervously, her grip on the sides of her dress tightening as Jungkook walked towards her.

"Hey-" Jieun mustered up enough courage to initiate the conversation, putting on a smile as she looked up at Jungkook. "Miyeon did your makeup today? It looks good."
