One Fateful Night is about a she-cat named Jadepaw and her friends, Ashpaw, Nightpaw, Lakepaw, and Skypaw. Jadepaw, Ashpaw, Nightpaw, and Lakepaw are training to be warriors, while Skypaw is learning the ways of a medicine cat. They are all having a good time, learning to hunt, fight, and heal, until Lakepaw gets the brilliant idea to sneak out of camp in the middle of the night. They all go for a harmless stroll through ThunderClan territory, and eventually make it to the Training Hollow. There, in the middle of the clearing, is the body of a warrior. But it isn't just any warrior; it is Jadepaw's mentor, Frostblaze. All of the apprentices are horrified, and Skypaw uses her healing knowledge to determine that he was murdered by another ThunderClan cat. Now, the apprentices must find out who killed Frostblaze, and why. (Jadepaw's warrior name is Jadetail)
