CHAPTER TEN

IT WAS A three-hour drive, that was the only clue Cade had given her. Nakatanaw lang si Yumika sa labas ng bintana habang unti-unti silang lumalayo sa siyudad. Paminsan-minsan ay nararamdaman niya ang mga sulyap ni Cade. Ilang beses rin niya itong nahuli pero ngingiti lang ito na parang wala lang. "Stop thinking too hard. I'm not gonna murder you," he joked as if to crack the serious mood. Tikom lang kasi ang bibig nito kung saan talaga sila pupunta.

"Paano mo nalamang nag-iisip ako?" Sa halip ay tanong niya.

He laughed softly. "You get this cute little wrinkle on the bridge of your nose when you're thinking too hard."

Napahawak tuloy siya doon. "Hindi kaya." She muttered defensively.

"Trust me, you'll gonna love the place." He winked. The butterflies in her stomach had awaken in response. Awkwardly, Yumika turned the radio on. Kapagkuwan ay pareho na silang naaliw sa mga kanta at nagduet pa sila.

Dumaan ang tatlong oras at ilang serpentine road ang dinaanan nila ay nakarating na rin sila. Yumika's eyes roamed around. It looked like they were in a mountain resort. Napatingin si Yumika sa golden big letters na nasa itaas ng luxury log cabin sa harap nila. It read Chalet La Dolce.

"Wait. Are we seriously in a mountain resort, Cade?" Hindi niya mapigilang tanong.

He looked pleased when he smiled. "You bet we are."

"Oh my God!" She couldn't contain her excitement.

Matapos umibis ng sasakyan ay sinamahan niya si Cade sa loob ng cabin para makapag-check in na sila. Hindi niya nakaligtaan ang ilang mata na nakatutok kay Cade nang pumasok sila sa loob. No surprise there. He exuded an air of wealth, confidence, and power. Not to metion his good looks. Talagang mapapatingin ang mga kababaihan at kalalakihan rito.

Nakatayo lang si Yumika sa likuran nito habang nakikipag-usap ito sa staff. Hindi man siya nakatingin pero nakikinig siya. The female staff has this overly sweet tone while talking to him.

"I'm actually here with my wife," sagot ni Cade nang tanungin ito kung mag-isa ba ito. He looked back at her, placed his arm on her waist and pulled her gently closer to him as if to introduce her to the staff. The woman smiled weakly, embarrassed, and resumed her work.

Ilang minuto pa ay sakay na sila sa passenger cart ng resort. Dumaan ang tatlong minuto ay narrating na nila ang kanilang luxury two-storey cabin. Ang kagandahan sa lokasyon nila ay walang ibang cabin na makikita. The luxury cabin stood proud among the giant trees nearby. Napa-wow na lamang si Yumika sa kabuuan niyon. Cade chuckled, he sounded pleased. And when they got inside, she was even more amazed. Every furniture was mahogany and fully varnished. The kitchen and dining area were combined together and there was also a mini bar. On the far end corner was the toilet. Sa itaas naman ay naroon ang master's bedroom. Mayroon itong malaking bathroom na may bathtub at shower room. Mayroon ding mini living room at balkonahe. Nang mapagtanto ni Yumika na isang bedroom lang ang naroon ay napatingin siya kay Cade. Nagsalubong ang kanilang mga mata at agad nitong nabasa ang iniisip niya.

"I'm sorry." He grimaced. "I didn't mean for this to happen. Tinawagan ako ng staff kanina nung nandoon pa tayo sa bahay to inform me that they had mistakenly gave our supposed room to another guest. Bilang kabayaran sa kamalian nila, they gave this luxury cabin for us without asking for additional payment and with a complimentary meal for the whole duration of our stay. Tinanggap ko na lang because I thought it's better than to cancel our plan."

Umiling siya na may kasamang ngiti sa mga labi. "No, it's fine Cade. Tama nga naman, it would be sad to cancel this vacation. Isa pa, malaki naman ang kama. Four people could fit in there." She laughed nervously then stopped when she realized what might it meant for him. "I-I mean, uh, you don't or I-I don't have to sleep on the bed. Pwede naman doon ako sa—"
