Chapter 1

"Dr. Kang, what surgeries are we doing today?" Jungwoo asked as he followed the older doctor.

"We have a liver transplant at 2pm and that's it." Hana replied to her resident.

"Only one?" Jungwoo asked. Hana nodded.

"There's a meeting later for all department heads." Hana responded, making her way down the halls of the hospital.

Kang Hana, a well-known paediatric surgeon in Neo General Hospital, the largest hospital in Neo City. Hana was considered young as the Head of Paediatric Surgery at the hospital, but the other doctors didn't doubt her abilities for a second.

Hana was a graduate of Stanford University, one of the best medical schools in the world. Even though she was younger than most of her classmates, she still graduated as the top of her class.

Another reason why the doctors never questioned her was because of her father, the Chairman of the hospital. If they wanted to keep their jobs, they wouldn't dare question the ability of the Chairman's daughter.

Hana was a paediatric surgeon, meaning that she worked with kids and her resident all day long, and she loved it. It made her so happy when she walked into a patient's room after a successful surgery to be greeted by a bright smile of a kid. On the other hand, she hated working with adults, as they also thought they knew better than her.

"Here's the patient's chart." Hana said, tossing Jungwoo the clipboard in her hands.

"Oof." Jungwoo said as he quickly caught it, following Hana into the patient's room. There, a little boy and his parents quickly turned to face them.

The parents greeted the two of them and Jungwoo immediately read off the chart readings in his hand.

"Junsu, how are you feeling today?" Hana asked with a bright smile as she ruffled the small boy's hair.

"Am I getting a new liver today?" Junsu asked, looking up at her with big round eyes. Hana tapped her chin as if she was thinking.

"I don't know, it depends. Have you been eating all your vegetables?" Hana asked him.

"I have! Even the nasty green broccolli, you can ask the nurse!" Junsu exclaimed making them all laugh.

"Then I guess you are." Hana said, making Junsu throw his hands up in excitement. She turned to the parents. "The surgery is scheduled for 2pm today, the nurses will come in to prepare him in a few hours."

"Thank you doctor." The father said as the mother went to give her son a big hug. Hana gave them a smile back before exiting the room, Jungwoo quickly following behind.

"Jungwoo, check up on the patient every now and then to make sure there are no changes in his stats. If anything seems abnormal, report to me immediately." Hana told the male following her.

"Yes, ma'am!" Jungwoo replied with a small salute. He turned around for a second before turning back to Hana.

"Yes?" Hana asked, looking up from her phone that she was looking at.

"Where are you going?" Jungwoo asked her. Hana let out a small sigh before placing her phone back into the pocket of her white coat.

"I'm meeting Dr. Moon, he has a surgery soon and he wanted me to watch." Hana replied, giving her resident a small smile before walking off.

"Hana!" Taeil callout out as he saw the doctor waiting outside the operating room. He was in his scrubs, just about to go into surgery.
