Angelina's POV

"Do you know how hard it was to convince Niki(Monica) to prepare this party?" Jackson sighed. "She literally said no to everything. Who cares if there's a mess? A messy party equals a fun party." Both Monica and I stared at him incredulously. But I couldn't help but burst out in laughter.

"Are you kidding me?" Monica let out a heavy breath full of frustration, "A messy party equals a fun party? You have no sense of responsibility. I just can't with you anymore. I swear to god, don't even think of acting like you know me anywhere. I don't want people to know that I'm acquaintances with an idiot like you." I looked at her a little surprised because usually she's really formal.

"Thank you guys," I said, breaking off their childish bantering, "I really appreciate everything you guys did for me today. Even if it wasn't a messy party," I gave Jackson a pointed look, "It still was fun." Monica gave me a smile and glared at Jackson as if to say 'I told you so'. "And it's good to see that you can be a little laid back sometimes, Monica," I added. She smiled shyly.

"I know that you haven't known me as long as Janice or Lucas, but I am always here for you. As your most trusted secretary and as your friend," she said. I smiled and nodded. "Well, I better get going now. Enjoy the rest of your evening." She grabbed Jackson's shirt pulling on him. "You too, sir," she said, a little mockingly.

"Ah, and secretary Monica is back," he said, making her glare at him. "Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" Jackson said with a nervous chuckle, "I think Angie said she wants me to stay over."

"I think we need to chat, don't we sir?" Monica said dragging him out. He weakly waved at me, mouthing 'save me'. I stood at the door and watched as their car left.

I looked at the sky. The sky was full of glittering stars, and the full moon was shining brilliantly.

I made my way back to the living room. There were polaroid pictures from the night scattered all over the table and floor. I picked a group photo of all of us and smiled. It's been a while since I felt truly happy like this, but that thought made me cry for some reason. With tears silently flowing down my face, I noticed the shopping bags from earlier that we had just stuck in the corner. I grabbed Nathaniel's present from the bag and opened it. I stared at the necklace. I pulled my knees to my body and wrapped my arms around them. I rested my head on my arms staring at the necklace.

I jumped when I heard my phone buzz on the table. I closed the necklace box and quickly wiped the tears from my face. I saw the screen and it was an unknown caller.

"Hello," I answered.

Nathaniel's POV

I waited, leaning against my car. A smile grew on my face when I saw her open the door.

"What? You need something?" She asked with a shaky voice. She'd been crying.

"Were you crying?" I asked. I didn't what to say to comfort her.

"Why do you care?" She said. I caressed her face in my hands.

"Of course I care," I said, "Are you alright?"

"You know, I'm really happy today," she said, "I'm really happy but—but my eyes keep crying."

"You wanna go for a drive?" I asked. We got in my car and drove around a bit before we ended up at a nearby beach. She got out, and I followed after her. She was walking barefoot in the sand along the water. She held her shoes in her hand and looked at the sky not saying anything as she had for the whole car ride.

"Are you alright?" I asked in a low voice.

After a long time, she said "I'm okay." Those two words made my heart wrench.

"No you're not!" I yelled. "You're not okay! Tell me that you're not okay. Blame me for it. Don't go crying by yourself because you feel like you don't deserve to be happy for once in your life. Blame me for preventing you from being happy. Just blame me like you did before. Just let it out! You're not an angel. You're human. Your deserve to have feelings. You're not okay!"

"I'm okay," she cried, "I'm fine! Everything's fine! Just because I'm sad doesn't mean the world is gonna stop. Just because I cry doesn't mean everything is not going to be okay. I feel so pathetic that I have to grasp onto these small moments of happiness, because every other day of my life was a living hell. But what difference does it make. So it's fine, because it doesn't make a difference what I want anyways. Life is still going to suck and I'm still living this f*cked up life of mine." She looked at me with tears running down her face. "I'm scared that I could lose even these moments of happiness with my friends and Quinn. I'm scared that I'll fall back into my pit, and this time I won't ever make it out. I don't ever want to re-live that past."

"I'm sorry," I said, my voice cracking, "I promise you that you'll never fall back into that pit ever again. I'll make sure that you'll be happy for the rest of your life. So please don't cry. It's hurts me to see you upset."

"Why did you ever show up in my life again?" She said emotionlessly.

"Because the universe wanted me to make everything right. I promise to make you happy, Angel. I promise," I said.
