Waiting- Alice Boman

Beautiful song and voice.

"Hey." I looked up from sitting alone at lunch to Emma.

I didn't respond.

"Why don't you sit with us anymore?"

"Fine don't talk to me. But I'm staying here. And I'm going to keep talking even if it annoys you."

I watched her, with my eyebrows furrowed.

"What?" She asked with a smile, as I stared at her.

"You have dimples." I said quietly.

"Oh, um yea." Her cheeks turned a light pink.

"So, what's your favorite movie?"

"Don't have one? Ok, well what do you like to do for fun?"

"I like going camping." She said answering her own question. " I remember one time, we were at the lake and we found a tree with a rope. So my brothers and I took turned swinging on it. I was scared so I went last. And when I went I didn't even make it to the water. I ended falling into a huge mud puddle."

I let out a small laugh.

"Hey, you have dimples too. It's cute."

I looked up to her. And then walked away.

"Christopher, where are you going?" My mom asked.

"Just for a walk." I grabbed my jacket.

I walked down the street, but then stopped.

I always hated walking on the bridge. I took my first step, slowly walking.

I stopped at the center. My hands on the railing. There was a necklace hanging on it. The one I gave her.

I stood up on the edge of the bridge, looking down.

How did she do it. Looking down at the scary height.

The voices must of really gotten to her.

I opened my arms, closing my eyes. The wind moving me.

The wind came stronger. And I let myself fall.

I fell not far then rolled and tumbled down the rest of the way.

"Keep your eyes on my finger." The doctor said as he shone the light in my eyes.

"He seems fine. You were very lucky."

And with that the doctor left.

My mom held my hand but I couldn't look at her. I was to ashamed.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled. "I just wanted to be with her." I cracked.

"But that's not the way sweetie. We could've lost you tonight. I promise you'll see her again but not now and not this way." She cried out. She couldn't take it and left me alone.

Why would she do this to me.
