Chapter 53

The next day, it's Friday; finally! So far, everybody is up, and from the looks of it outside, it's raining. Tom looked outside and he stepped away from the window.

Tom: Now where are those rain hats? *Sabine put an apple in Timmy's lunch box and a banana in Marinette's lunch bag. *

TJ: Mom, I have a big rip in my backpack.

Sabine: I'll find a needle and thread. *She went inside the kitchen drawer and she found one. *

Priscilla: I need my permission slip signed for my field trip next Friday. We're going to England for our field trip. *Tom gives Timmy his rain hat and Marinette finishes up with her cereal. *

Tom: I'll find a pen. *He goes into the drawer, and gets a red ink pen, Priscilla gives her dad her permission slip, and he signs it. *

Timmy: And I need a ride to Chris' house tomorrow so we can work on our science project for school. *Tom handed Priscilla her signed permission slip. *

Priscilla: Thanks, Dad. *She walks to her backpack. *

Tom: Hmm. I could ask Brett to give me a ride to the store to pick up some more baking supplies for the shop. Your mom will have the car to give you a ride.

Sabine: But my book club meeting is tomorrow night.

Timmy: Oh, but it's the only night Chris can do it and the project's due on Monday.

Sabine: I'll see what I can do. I'll ask the ladies to change our meeting. But that'll be the third time it changes for one reason or another.

Timmy: Thanks, mom. I sure hope Chris renewed the library books.

Tom: Oh look at the time, kids. You better get to school or you're gonna be late. *They put on their raincoats and rain hats. *

Sabine: (holding out a lunch bag) Here's your lunch. Priscilla, don't forget you have to pick up TJ and Timmy from school today.

Priscilla: Dad's not doing it?

Sabine: No. We have a double shift at the bakery. Marinette, go luck with your test today.

Marinette: Thanks, mom.

Sabine: TJ, don't forget to turn in your homework.

TJ: It's all done and ready to go.

Sabine: Timmy, you got your lunch this time?

Timmy: In my backpack.

Sabine: Good. You all be good. *They walk to their schools.* Better bathe Mei Lin. Shouldn't take too long. *She goes to the bathroom, while Tom does the dishes before he opens up the bakery. At school, Marinette goes to the stairway and she studies one more time before her test in the morning. *

Alya: Hey, girl.

Marinette: Hey. *They walk inside the building together. *

Alya: Studying one last time?

Marinette: Yep.

Alya: I studied all night.

Marinette: Cool.

Alya: So, what plans do you have for Luka tomorrow?

Marinette: If I tell you, you gotta promise you not to tell anybody this, okay?

Alya: You have my word.

Marinette: I'll tell you about it after the test.

Alya: Okay. Don't forget. *Alya walked away and Marinette kept studying. *

Adrien: Marinette's here.

Nino: Dude, she seems busy. Maybe you should talk to her later.

Adrien: No. I have to, right now.

Nino: Hate to burst your bubble but, she's leaving. *They see Marinette leaving, and Adrien feels sad about that. *

Adrien: I'll get to her later.

Nino: There you go.
