I was walking home from work, having a sinking feeling that when I arrived home, it wasn't going to be nice. I frowned. When was it nice?

"Lyra Oscar Williams!" Father yelled as I walked into the door. I flinched as he came closer. He grabbed my bag and threw it to the floor. I blinked.

"Where's my money." He growled. I fished out my wallet and he yanked it from me. He grabbed all my cash and threw the wallet back at me. I caught it.

"Pick up your bag." He said, flatly. I bent over and he shoved me forward. I held in my gasp and hit the floor. He snickered and walked out the door and drove off in his rusty old pick up truck he made me work on.

I stood up and walked to the kitchen. I looked around and sighed. Grocery shopping tomorrow. Wonderful. At least there was no school. Hooray.

I rolled out of bed and readied myself. I changed and dried my hair. I really needed to see a doctor about my chest and leg. They were starting to really hurt. I frowned.

I grabbed my credit card and walked out, noticing father was still gone. Probably at a new girlfriends house. Man whore. Seriously. He was with a new girl every night. Surprised he doesn't have an STD yet.

I shoved my hands into my pockets after shifting the light back pack, that was empty for shopping, to a more comfortable position.

It smelled wonderful out. Fresh rain in the ground, enhancing the smell of the dirt and faint smells of downy or bounce from drying clothes. It was still drizzling and clouds threatened to open to the heavy rain.

A few cars passed me as I walked to the supermarket. They ignored me, thankfully. I was actually in a good mood today since father was still gone.

I reached the parking lot and went and hid behind a Peter built semi with a red and blue flamed decal as I saw Trent and his goons.

I peered around and saw they were gone. I sighed in relief and stepped out. I peeked around. Still gone. I shoved my hands into my pockets again and walked to the middle of the drive area and stopped when I heard tires squealing.

I looked and saw Trent's hummer barring down on me. I skittered away and was soaked as he hit a pot hole. I flinched and wiped my face. I heard snickers.

"Hey, mute! Got any pretty pictures I can destroy?" They snickered again. I turned and began walking away. "Hey! I demand an answer!" I turned to him, glared and walked into the store.

I went around the store, picking out what I needed. I was quietly humming even though I was soaking wet. I stopped and sneezed.

I felt someone looking at me and I looked around and saw a huge burly man with bright blue eyes glaring at me. I started shaking. He started my way.

I immediately started looking around and saw the front door. I set the basket down and looked back at the man. He looked pissed.

I took my change and darted out of the supermarket, not caring about curious stares. I burst through the doors and ran past the semi. I was gasping and struggling to breathe as I reached the tree line.

I hid behind a tree and struggled to force myself to breath right. I held my chest and hunched over. I coughed and groaned.

"Are you ok, miss?" I looked up to see a man in his late 20's. he had bright blue eyes like that pissed dude. He had a jacket that matched the Peter built.

I scrambled away nearly screaming out loud. I fell into view and saw the pissed man staring at me. He started my way as the other man did.

"Miss?" I whimpered and started running away. I went as fast as I could to the woods and darted around trees, nearly tripping on twigs and my own feet.

I arrived home and slumped against the side of the house. I sat down and coughed a couple times. It was on the verge of become sickening. It wracked my tiny frame easily.

I went to my room and fell into my bed and cursed. I dropped my bag near that tree. Crap. What if they're thieves? I kicked the bed. I'll look around tomorrow.
