"Hmm!!"
Amma hummed.

"Why are you being this sweet to me? How can you feel blessed by having such a daughter like me? Like my parents never cared about me when they gave birth wo me then how can you be this polite to me even after all my behaviour and bickerings with you??"

I couldn't take this anymore. That question was again and again hammering on my mind.

"Let me tell you a story. Will you liaten?"
She said holding my chin.

I nodded looking at her.

"So there was a man named Abou Ben Adhem. Do you know about him?"
Amma asked and I nodded.

"I learned a poem about him when I was little which I don't remember now. All I remember is that he was some saint."
I said thinking.

"Let me tell you!!"
She said and I exclaimed.

She smiled and started.
"One night Abou Bin Adhem was sleeping very peacefully when his deep slumber was broken. He looked around his room which was shinning in moon light. He noticed that his room's atmosphere was filled with sense of pure loveliness like that of a blooming Lily due to presence of an angel who was writing something in a golden book. Abou Bin Adhem's peaceful life thus far made him fearless and so he asked the angel what it was writing.
Looking up compassionately, the angel replied that it was writing the names of those who love Allah.
He asked if his name was there on the list but the angel replied in negative."

Amma stopped and took a deep breath.
"So sad na!!"
I looked at Amma pouting.
She smiled.

"There comes nothing sad in lives of those who love Allah. Let's continue with the story."

I nodded and she continued.

"So then Abou Bin Adhem without getting worried he imlpoee the angel to write his name as those who love the people instead. Angel wrote and disappeared."
Amma stopped.

"Ohh!!"

"Next night angel again came!!"
Amma saod and I jumped in excitement cause I was sad for Abou Bin Adhem.

"Yeah!! It came and this time it turned in a blaze of light and showed a Abou Bin Adhem a new list of those people who was blessed by Allah's love and so there was Abou Bin Adhem' s name was on top leading the names of others."
Amma said smiling and unknowingly a fun one smile crept on my lips like I was truly happy and that I didn't know why.

" You know what this event of About Ben Adhem 's life teaches us?"

" What?"

"It teaches us that people can bedt express love for Allah by loving their fellow human beings. It was Abou Bin Adhem who becamethe most 'best at the end and not those who focused on only demonstrating their love to Allah. This event gives us a moral that love of humankind is love of Allah because people are Allah's creations.
In essence, it says that one who claims to love Allah but hurt His people and leave them helpless and don't feed them and don't love them then he really doesn't love Allah at all because those who love Allah don't hurt His people as well. So in short Allah loves those who love their felowmen!!"

Amma said and I looked at her dumbstruck.

"That's why I love you!! And besides I wont see any flaw in you. You are beautiful and moreover you have a good heart. "
Amma said smiling.

" How can you say that?"
I asked.

"I know that!! Ok for now sleep!!"

She said and I closed my eyes with Amma stroking my hair.

I didn't know that I will ever meet such a pious and heartwarming person like her in my life who will value me this much.

Moments passed with me drowned in my thoughts.

I opened my eyes and saw Amma sleeping beside me.

I smiled and pulled sheet over her.

"I didn't know that I will get attached to you this soon. I am sorry for my ill behaviour. I promise that I won't misbehave woth anyone ever again. From today I will try to please Allah by pleasing his people because I know taht a sinful person like me can't be forgiven this easily. "

Withthis determination I kissed Amma on forehead and closed my eyes smiling.
