Do I Dare to Take a Risk?

"hey sugar bean can you hear me? sugar bean?"

"y/n wake up!"

Nothing. No response. What do I do? Do I take her back to the house? Or maybe her house. No it's too cold over there. The drastic weather change could get her sick. At least that is what I know from learning about hamans.

I teleported instinctively and found myself in waterfall. Specifically where my telescope is.

I have no idea why I teleported here. But it will do. I gently set y/n down who was still in my arms until now. I saw a patch of grass and used that to make a simple bedding, using my jacket as a pillow. I picked her up and set her down there. She's lighter than I imagined she would be.

I sat against the walls the cave. I knew I should have been more careful. Frisk yeah she can take care of herself just fine. For all I know whatever god there is in this world seems to adore her. But y/n... she is capable to take care of herself. But I just get worried, protective would be a better way to put it.

Huh, I really have developed feelings for her. And it's kinda scary. Imagine this what if we did get together. It would be amazing. But there will always be the looming possibility that Frisk will reset and everything I had with her will be gone.

I already have to bear with losing Paps in some timelines. I don't think I can handle anything else. I turn my skull to her. She's still unconscious. Did she get heat stroke? That's a thing right?

There is still the dare. Plus all the new changes in this timeline. Plus Frisk blantly said that this might be her last reset. Perhaps fate is on my side this time. Do I dare to take a risk? Yeah I do. When she wakes up. I'll ask her out.

Okay it's been like twenty minutes and she's still unconscious. I think I should get her some medical help. This could be serious. I'm such a numbskull. Why didn't I do that in the first place?

Then she began to move. Her eyes opened and she sat up. "good  afternoon sleeping beauty. had a nice rest?"

What the hell am I saying. Maybe I'm the one with heat stroke.

"No not really. Ugh my head. Wait where am I"

"your in waterfall sugar bean.. soo what happened to you? you were just fine a while ago and then next i see you you faint."

She looks confused for a sec and then she seemed to have remembered. She started talking quickly summarizing what occurred.

"Oh yeah! Ok so me and Frisk where in the lab taking to Alphys and then this robot, Mettaton, comes in and kicks me out of the lab by throwing me out. Which hurt a lot. I think that's when I hit my head. Then Alphys came out and hands me a phone which I have with me right now and then she left. And you showed up a minute later." She pulls out the phone.

Took me a sec to realize what went wrong there. "mettaton threw you out!?"

"Yup. It was kinda painful." Kinda? Nah that sounds like it hurt like hell.

"the cheap toaster. no wonder you where out for so long. when i see him next time it won't go well for him."

I think my eyes did that thing again because y/n seemed a bit concerned. "Sans please calm down. He probably didn't know that I would get hurt."

She's got a point that microwave feels no pain when he gets hit. I took a deep breath and let myself calm down.

"okay i'll let him go. unless he does something else to you."

"Okay sounds reasonable. Also, thanks for taking care of me, it means a lot."

"no problem just take it easy for the next few days."

"You don't have to tell me twice. So is the telescope yours?" She points to it.

"Yup. you know me the space nerd. it's better to get a closer look at the gems in my opinion."

"Can I see?"

"Sure. I normally charge for people to use it. But since I know you it's for free."

She reaches to beside her. Her expression changes to confusion as she looks around for something.

"Sans? Where are my crutches?"

Oh shoot I left them back in hotland.
"wait here for a minute." I quickly teleport to hot land grab them and teleport back. "here." I hand them to her.

The rest of the evening went by pretty quick. With us talking about random stuff. And of course me showing her the telescope. Frisk hasn't shown up yet so she must've went to explore the rest of hotland. And to confirm that Alphys later sent y/n a text message.

We were laying on the cool cavern floors looking up at the glowing stones above. This is the perfect moment. My chance to complete the dare and change how my story goes.

Taking a deep breath I sat up and started the conversation. "hey, sugarbean."

"Yeah?" She sits up as well.

"um there's been something i've been wanting to ask you." What if she says no? No you are in this far. Don't chicken out.

"What is it?"

"....um.... w-will you...... look we've been friends for awhile and i understand if you don't feel the same way. *sigh* y/n ... will you go on a date with me?"

She looks shocked. I'm getting the feeling that I messed up. "Are you asking me this because of the dare?"

"the dare is a small reason. but i do like you... in a romantic way... my feelings are genuine." She goes quite after that. I knew it she doesn't like me back.

"Yes." Wait did she just- "I like you romantically too. I would love to go on a date with you!"

The nerves disappear after that. I haven't felt this happy in a long time. I feel my permanent smile widen. She smiles back at me.

I should really take more risks more often.
