After a lot of work in the Kitchen, it was finally time for their little party they throw for the Greenies every month. And the party has already begun.
Mariah was standing around talking and joking with Winston who was actually a close friend of her's in the Glade. Unlike most Glader's would think and unlike most of them, Mariah could actually handle the blood and gore of the job of a Slicer. Though she hated watching the animal's die she didn't care about the blood or anything. Ever since she came she was able to handle it and that proved useful on many occasions especially after she switched from her previous job to a Med-jack.
Soon her name was called by Minho who was waving her over from his place with the runners. Mariah smiled towards him before saying her goodbyes to Winston heading over to Minho and the rest of the runners making them cheer as she approached. Mariah laughed joining in on their conversation.

Newt was sitting beside the Greenie talking with him answering some of his questions.
"What about the girl? How come she's the only one?" The Greenie asked
Newt glanced towards him "Mariah? Hm... We don't really know why she's the only girl that was sent here but be glad she was sent down, otherwise I don't think this place would ever be as good as it is without her. Without Mariah there would be a lot more people dead, she's saved so many of the Gladers, myself included. She's everyone's rock..." Newt looked down realizing he was ranting while The Greenie stared at him with a raised eyebrow
"Look, what I'm trying to say is that, Mariah... Mariah means the world to almost every last person here. She's the person everyone goes to when they need help with something. She's the person that they go to when they need someone to talk to. She's extremely trusted by everyone, she's part of the council. She was also one of the first Gladers to arrive here. She's the reason we have balance and trust here. It may not seem like it at first but the longer you're here the more you'll see that Mariah is the one person in this whole Glade that every last one of us trust. And soon you'll trust her as well." Newt smiled towards him
The Greenie looked towards Newt in shock before a look of realization appeared "You care about her a lot don't you?"
Newt looked towards him before looking behind them towards Mariah who was still with Minho and the runners joking around and talking "A lot more then you think Greenie..."
The Greenie turned around as well "You've been here for almost 3 whole years, why haven't you said anything to her?"
Newt shrugged "Cause right now's not the time for romance Green Bean..."
Mariah looked over and spotted Newt and the Greenie staring towards her and smiled before getting up and walking towards them waving "Hey Newt! Greenie! What are you talking about that involves staring towards me?"
