chapter 5: aftermath of doubts

Jennie pursed her lips tightly and nodded. "You're probably right, but reading such comments... it really hurts."

"It hurts for me to see you in pain as well, Jennie-ya," Jimin said softly as he snatched the phone from Jennie's hands and put it at one side. "I've been in this together with you for the past three years, so I've seen you at your best and your worst... Let me tell you, the Jennie Kim I know shines the brightest when she is full of confidence, so don't let such comments bring you down. If you are unable to filter out the hate comments when you read them, the best would be to not read them at all. Just focus on being you, Jennie-ya. Let the people hate all they want, they're the ones rotting inside from all the hatred they hold in their hearts anyway."

"You're right..." Jennie nodded as she wiped away her tears. "But oppa-"

"Hm?"

"You haven't answered my question."

"What was it about again?"

"Was I being unreasonable with Jungkook earlier?"

Jimin let out an awkward laugh. "Kind of."

"I knew it-" Jennie sighed. "I did it on impulse, plus, I was kinda upset about the way he was acting earlier this morning at the shoot. So... I was being unreasonable huh..."

"Just a little."

"Got it," Jennie said with a small nod. "Tomorrow I'll go look for him and apologise. Does that sound good?"

"Mmhmm."

"Thanks for your advice, as always, oppa."

"Don't mention it," Jimin said with a chuckle. "You done crying now, Jennie-ya?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Stylist-noona, come fix Jennie's makeup!"

-•-•-

"Ya! Ya! Ya!" Seokjin grabbed Jungkook by his arm and turned him around, before he could board the car. "Jeon Jungkook!"

Jungkook looked completely unapologetic. "What?"

"What was that back there?" Seokjin frowned as he folded his arms and eyed Jungkook with a disappointed look on his face. "What happened?"

"I believe that I've made myself clear, hyung-" Jungkook glared at Seokjin. "I was running away from fans and she was in my way. It was her fault... I can't believe she still demanded for an apology-"

"Ya, Jungkook-ah!" Seokjin combed his hair back with his fingers, flashing Jungkook an exasperated glance. "Even then, you were being so rude! Did you see how fuming mad that young lady looked back there? What if she blows this matter up or something?"

"I don't care, hyung."

"What's wrong with you today?" Seokjin furrowed his eyebrows as he patted Jungkook on his shoulder. "Earlier on with Jennie-ssi, and now with this Jieun-ssi... why are you in such a bad mood?"

Jungkook was already stressed out as it is, but this was his first come back in a long while, so it added an extra burden on him. He could barely sleep, he wasn't eating well, and was just moody and prickly in general. Earlier, Jennie had called to make noise about the way he answered the stupid dating question during the press conference. He just wanted the spotlight for once, to be recognised for his talent in songwriting, why was it so difficult?
