Hajara's POV

I woke up with a throbbing headache affecting only the left part of my head.

"water" i croaked.

i could hardly open my eyes as the light in the room was to much for  my poor sight. A tender hand held my back as it helped me drink the water. I realised it was mami's.

"Are you okay darling" haha where from the darling all of a sudden i asked myself. Not that mami treated me bad or anything. But using such words was not a thing between us.

"Should i offer you some milk?" i was about to shake my head when Hakeem answered,

"Haba mami. She just woke up"

I closed my eyes as I tried  to inhale and exhale.
I was tired but I wanted to speak with my grandma.
Wait, I hope they didn't tell her about my injury. I didn't want her getting worried about me. I replayed the scenes that lead to my admission and I couldn't even understand. I thought for a long time wondering what I did wrong.

Just then, the doctor walked in with Hakeem who had gone out after I woke up.
"How are you feeling today?" He asked. At this point, I felt energised and found my voice back.
"I'm fine just that my head i s really aching especially, this side" I answered raising my hand to point to the left side of my head.

He nodded as he scribbled something into his note pad. Then he went towards the monitor and continued writing as he asked me questions in between.

My stomach groaned loudly and how I wished the earth would open at that point. I was embarrassed.

"Have you had breakfast?" The doctor asked.
I shook my head

"Okay, please give her something light. I will send the nurse with her medication so she takes it ones she's done eating." Mami nodded as she brought out a plate from a basket on the table.

.......

The days rolled by so fast and soon it was time for me to be discharged.
Mami had been an angel. And if I didn't know her children or husband, I would have said she's my lost mom.
She took turns with Hakeem to look after me. And even Hud, Huzaif and Zak including their sisters all came to see me.

At a point, I called Kamal to inform him of what happened and he to promised to come around.
Hanna wanted to come to, I didn't want to stress her so I stopped her.
My grandma was told about what happened we had video call and I assured her that I was okay.

I overheard Hakeem telling mami that Hajia was to be prosecuted before court and I couldn't be more happier. She deserved it.

The weeks that rolled by after I was discharged, was one that I couldn't quite comprehend.
I received extra love and care from everyone including Rama. It was quite a sight to behold and oh, I was healing pretty fast.

I sat at the balcony sipping slowly the pineapple juice on the table as I revised over my slides. I heard mami call me from inside and I proceeded into her room.
Sitting beside her was a very familiar woman. I tried to recall where I'd seen her. Then it came in my mind, oh, she was the one I saw just as I collapsed.

Rahina had told me she saved me by donating her blood to me but I hadn't seen her after and when I made an approach to make mami call her, she declined softly telling me not to bother as she had already than that on my behalf.

I went close to her as I knelt down before her.
"Thanks very much aunty. I'm a stranger to you, but you saved my life. Humanity needs people like you"
She hugged me and helped me stand up as she cried profusely into the crouch of my neck.
I stood with my hands by my side. Lol, I didn't understand what was going on.

"My daughter" she said as she cried more.

Wait, did she just call me her daughter? Haha am I growing crazy or what? Okay, she gave me her blood but does giving one your blood makes you family. I guess so, or no I don't think so. No of course it doesn't make you family. Okay, so why is she calling me her daughter? I continued to debate with myself not understanding what was going on until she let go of me.

"Come here, come sit with me." This time it was mami speaking. I left the woman's side and proceeded to sit on the bed with mami.
"How are you feeling now? I hope the headache has subsided?" She asked as she held my head with both hands affectionately.

"Yes mami, I'm fine. And thanks for all you do for me."

Mami sighed and turned to me. Her face wore an expression I have never seen before. Her friend sat on the chair by vanity as she starred at us.

"Hajara, let me tell you a short story. You see this life, everything is patience. Yes. The story is patience. I called your grandma and we had a long conversation yesterday. So she knows what I'm about to tell you.

I know this life hasn't been an easy one for you. But as a results of patience and hard work, look at you today.

Also my dear, before anything, I don't want you to blame anyone or anything for what you'll think is a misfortune on your side. But rather, thank the Almighty for he knows best in every situation. Sometimes, even though we think we know, what we want is not always what is meant to be or what we want isn't always the best for us.

So regardless of what happens, we should always thank God. For at least, we have a roof over our head and food to eat.
Now before I proceed with anything, I want you to say Alhamdulilah."

I muttered Alhamdulilah my heart thumping as I waited to hear what she had to say.

"She..." She pointed to the aunty who was with us.
"She's called Adama. My children call her aunty AA. You can also call her that for now.
I want us to take everything slowly.
She's your mother. Yes your birth mother"

"My mother, mother, mother.." I kept repeating the word over and over again as the word registered in my brain.

I cant. I just can't. I felt suffocated and just like that, I lost consciousness.

Getting closer😂😂😂

Well in all honesty, I'm sad. Truly. No likes, no comments, nothing.
If not that I promised myself to finish by the end of this month, I would have deleted the book.
