Shared World
So weird thing... I like using Shared Worlds. If you read some of my other books (notably "The Dragontree of Kaŝe" and "The Dragonslayers of Kaŝe") they are in theory in the same world - an alternative version of our Earth with different historical events. This Alt-Earth means I can do many different things within that world that you wouldn't find in regular stories based in Earth. I can change history. I can include things like time travel, magic, alternate versions of historical events, mythological figures can be 'real', etc.
Writing everything in an Alt-Earth allows me more freedom to do whatever I want to do, and even to have stories overlap or connect if I want them to. Thus even though the two Kaŝe books have magic in them, they in theory take place in the same world and timeline as "The Girl in the Red Hoodie".
"The Girl in the Red Hoodie" for example takes place during the year 2020 - an alternative version of it. I started writing the book years ago - pre-COVID - and as a consequence COVID doesn't exist in this alternative version of 2020. Thus any other books I write in the future which also take place in Alt-Earth also follow the different timeline of events.
