Y/n stared at herself in the mirror, watching the skirt of her flowing knee high dress, scrutinizing it with a piercing gaze. She thought it was a little much, with the open back and it was a little tight at her cleavage.

Her makeup - that she had spent almost an hour on, having to start over quite a few times because it just wasn't right - was starting to look over done, too. She experimented with shades to match the dark blue of her dress, and eventually went with a more natural look of eyeliner that brought out the colour of her eyes and a bit of mascara and lip gloss.

To be quite frank, she didn't feel like making an effort; she's been sulking for a long while now, but one of her girlfriends told her to get off her ass. So here she was, preparing for a blind date set up by aforementioned friend. She hated this type of thing - blind dates, too mysterious, too open and not casual enough to be comfortable. Unlike when you'd go out with someone you genuinely liked and wanted to try something out, but for her own sake, she agreed.

She could only pray that it went well and her two hours if getting ready for it wasn't a waste of her bloody time. She sighs, the clicking of her heels followed her away from the mirror and out to her living room where she grabbed her purse and her coat from the chair.

Okay, here goes.

It was only a quarter past seven, a bit early for her to be leaving home, but she wanted to at least make a good first impression. To show that she wanted to actually have a go at this and try to have fun doing it, too. Her friend, Emma, had said that her date was a nice guy, but didn't tell her much than that. Y/n had tried to get more out of the girl, and asked where she knew him from, just to ease her nerves that she wasn't walking into something she couldn't walk back out of.

Emma's boyfriend knew a guy, who knew a guy, or something like that were her words, not very comforting. Like she said, she hated blind dates. Had a few in the past that didn't end quite well. One even took off, but he was a cheating scum bag who just wanted a good time.

Y/n locked the door of her house, walking a little ways up her street to catch a cab to some fancy restaurant. The man had already made reservations, texted her the address an hour ago. She didn't question how exactly he had gotten her number, assuming that Emma had given it to him, or maybe her boyfriend....or that guy he knew....but how would they have her number in any case?

Y/n rolled her eyes at her own fretful mental banter, relax. This is supposed to be a fun night, going out, meet someone new, have a few drinks and get herself properly sloshed and maybe, maybe they'd probably go out again. And then, maybe she'd forget.

Y/n frowned, she wasn't expecting her thoughts to turn on her. But now that the down spiral had started she had no other choice than to follow the white rabbit. She doesn't think, in all her life she'd ever felt so embarrassed and hurt by a guy before. What he did, that was something that haunted her.

Of course, she had berated herself long before when she had noticed her little crush on Sherlock. She knew what he was like, but the love bug had already settled too deeply in her head and made its home and didn't want to find new lodgings. So she was forced to let it stay, fester, and of course land her right here going out for a blind date in an attempt to evict the little stinker.
