Nanda dynasty, that had been ruling northern region, since 1121 c. ADE, was one of the three most powerful kingdoms that Indian Subcontinent had seen in medieval times, the other two being the Raizadas and the Gupts.
Although founded by a cobbler, the current king of Nanda dynasty Maharaja Kishore Nanda (b.1256) was the renowned ruler of the kingdom.
His probable frontier origin and early career as an adventurer helped him to consolidate the empire with ruthless conquests and earned him, the title "King of kings".
Apart from overthrowing disparately located powers, his another strategy was to build matrimonial relationship with the neighborhood kingdoms, thus extending his empire in a peaceful way and resulting him to be the husband of 14 wives.
The same strategy Maharaja Kishore Nanda had used to establish good relations with the Raizada Dynasty, a strong Muslim empire from Western India.
