They all sat on the sofa, Mr Green tapped his feet repeatedly as his eyes pierced into the TV. I could feel how anxious they all were. He held his hands with his wife and Aelia held mine tighter. I knew how much this meant for him.

He's a good man that had alot to say, people supported him through his journey but it was never enough to calm his nerves. There's always that doubt inside your head that thinks 'you could do better'

"And the results are in" the female reporter announced on the television. The live local broadcast was all everyone was tuned into

"And this year's winner for Congress is... " she said again, the suspense was overwhelming. I even felt my own heart beating fast.

"David Green" she said

The cheers erupt like an auditory volcano. It is all quiet one second and then deafening the next, rising to a crescendo and then falling to a trickle before the same nervous tension commands silence once more. Eyes flung wide. They were electrified, awake, soaring to new heights of emotion.

Mr Green engulfed his wife in a bear crushing hug, her small body was tossed around in the air. I couldn't help but laugh. All that hard work had paid off.

Aelia ran to her father's side, the Green family held each other tightly as they cried happy tears together. The man trembled from excitement, glasses clinked and alcohol burned the throat of those who celebrated

"Congratulations sir" I smiled and shook his hand

"Thank you Luna, I just can't believe it" he chuckled

"How can you not? You're a great man for this job sir, no one else deserves it more than you do" I smile, he almost teared up when he pulled me into a hug. I chuckled and wrapped my arms around his back

"Thank you for your kind words Luna, it means alot" he said, we finally pulled apart and he headed towards his wife to make a speech

"Let this day mark the beginning of change. Growing up, my parents worked three jobs to balance a regular life for my brother and I. We never had the luxury of a shirt without a few holes in it. But we made due with what we had and never felt a damn shame about it. We wore our ragged clothed with pride. Our parents got their hands dirty so we could be clean. Unfortunately they passed away a few years ago but I can feel their presence with us tonight. I know they'd be proud of everything my brother and I have achieved. Let this day remind you that you can come from the ashes of nothing. Literally nothing. And make a life for yourself. I strive to be the best husband for my wife and the best role model for my daughter. I'd like to thank you all for being on this journey with me and for supporting our movement. I promise you, we won't let you down. Cheers" he smiled and clinked his glass with those around the room

I glanced over and noticed tears were rolling down the eyes of my girlfriend. I tilted my head and nudged her sides

"Are you okay baby?"

"I.... I never knew about his life as a young child... I never knew the problems and hardship he faced" she mumbled, I smiled and pulled her into my side, her arms wrapped around my stomach and she buried her face into my shirt. I felt the water starting to soak in but I didn't care

"I guess both our fathers started from nothing and worked their assess off. It's admirable. Your father really is a great man Aelia, I hope now that you see him even stronger than he is" I smiled

"I love you so much" she mumbled

"I love you too baby"

"Can we go upstairs?" she asked

"It's your house" I chuckled, she groaned and grabbed my hand, pulling me up the stairs.

I glanced at Linda and saw her giving me a warning stare, I knew what she meant and I nodded. This calmed her nerves and she smiled sweetly.

Aelia walked over to her bed and I closed the door before walking over to her. I kicked off my shoes and climbed into bed. She buried her face into my chest and I wrapped my arms around her

"I'd really like some rain right now. It'll make stuff more romantic" she giggled

"Say less" I said, I brought my hands up and clapped twice

Within seconds, the whistling sound of pitter rain came beating against the roof. With these drops that come to greet the earth with the splendour of their music and the sensation of flow, is the feeling of joy - not the elevated and loud happiness of the rave, but the sweet serenity of a loving quiet purpose.

"How did you do that?" she questioned

"You ask too many questions" I said giggling, my hands reached over and pulled the cover over us

"I love you" I whispered and kissed her forehead

"I love you too dumbass"
