Chapter 107

Narrator's pov

"Do you have nothing to say? I have poured my heart out to you, what are you thinking?" she asked. But Luna's mind was blank and her eyes wide as she stared at Medusa in horror. 

"It's highly complicated" Luna muttered

"Luna, it's just you and I. There's no one else who has a say in our relationship"

"You'd think so-"

"No. I know so Luna. You're the love of my life" Aelia muttered.

And there it was, the pain in her heart. The pain was sharp like a needle point or a knife, it burned around her innards better than boiling water.

"Luna, why are doing this? Tell me"

"It's not really my choice" She muttered. Medusa glared at her from across the room, her silver eyes bored right into her green ones

"Some things are far complicated, we do what we must to get what we want" Luna said

"But... All I want is you" Aelia whispered, the stinging pain in her heart was consuming her.

As much as she prolonged the conversation just to hear the girl's voice, it was becoming frustrating to feel everything. It was time to end it

"Goddammit Aelia, stop making this harder than it is"

"Oh it's hard for you? Sorry I didn't know, with all the explaining you've been doing" the girl said. Luna almost smiled at how the girl was acting

She truly never gave up without a fight. Aelia has always been a tough person. Luna recalled the conversation they had on the plane a few days ago

"If someone wanted to walk out of my life, I'm not gonna humiliate myself and force them to stay."  Were the words of Aelia.

Luna thought about how badly she was fighting for her to stay, it stung her even more to know that Aelia was going against what she believed in

It goes to show how much Aelia really cared about the girl

"Luna please, we talked about growing old together. Well, I'm gonna grow old, we'll just be together" The girl chuckled on the phone, Luna could tell her laughs were filled with tears

"Things change" Luna said coldly

"Wow....Just wow.... I guess they really do" Aelia whispered

"...I hope you find happiness again someday Aelia" Luna whispered

"I hope you realize the mistake you've made Luna" the girl muttered from the other end of the phone.

Luna was in more pain than she could have ever imagined was possible. A bullet would be a mercy right now but an increase in the sickly morphine is the best she could hope for.

"Goodbye Aelia" Luna whispered almost inaudibly

"Goodbye Luna"

The call was then dropped. Luna felt everything explode in that moment. Pain seared through her abdomen better than a branding iron, her mind conceding to the torment, unable to bring a thought to completion.

Luna fell onto her knees, the cold ground met her skin. Her body curled into something fetal, something primeval and all the while the pain burns and radiates.

Her eyes saw nothing; they have lost all sight of what is and what could have been. Her mouth was open, an eternal silenced scream, saliva dripping from behind her teeth and onto the ground, stained with the memory of the one she loved the most. It wasn't a pretty sight but pride was out the window now.
