"That sounds pretty sweet though. What happened next?"
Graduation rolled around, followed by Taehyung attending his first-ever lecture in a university. Then came their exams for the semester. Jungkook was already a final year student. (Yes, I skipped Tae's birthday. Yes, his third year is his last, I know it doesn't work that way but deal with it) The exams ended and then came Summer vacation. It had been 9 months of them dating and they were happier than ever.
Currently, Jungkook was enjoying the breeze as the drove on a seemingly endless road in the middle of nowhere. He was standing in an Aston Martin DB11 Volante, the hue a magnetic silver as Taehyung sat behind the wheel, whirring past the slight foliage. Namjoon had gifted him the car for his birthday and he had been excited to finally be able to drive it. He laughed out loud when Jungkook spread his hands, feeling the rush hit his face and torso. He smiled at the cleaner air of the place as Taehyung took a turn.
They drove for some more time before Jungkook looked around to see trees come in view. They stopped at a familiar sight and the two hopped out. In front of them stood the same log house, where they had met almost a year ago. Taehyung smiled as he locked the car, the roof coming back up on the convertible. He walked towards Jungkook, holding the older's hand in his.
They spent the next few days in the cabin, enjoying their week in the presence of the ones they loved the most. They spent nights out under the stars, counting them in each others' arms. The week sadly came to an end soon and they packed up their bags, ready to leave. Once again on the road, Jungkook spoke up.
"I'll be having job interviews soon, Mon Amour." He said as he drove back, Taehyung moving his hands in the breeze. "I know. Is it bothering you?" The younger asked as he looked at his boyfriend. The older shook his head lightly before continuing. "But it's just that... How will this work out if I get a job somewhere else?" He spoke softly but Taehyung felt a pang in his chest as he looked down.
"Are you... doubting us?" He mumbled as the car came to an abrupt halt. Jungkook looked at Taehyung, just to see that the boy had his head turned away from Jungkook. He leaned forward, cupping the younger's face and making him look at the brunette. "No baby. I would never doubt us. It's just that I'm scared of losing you." He said softly, kissing the other's face.
Taehyung let out a small giggle as he moved back, his mood lightening as he pecked the older's lips. "Don't be. I'm all yours and I'm never leaving you." He whispered as Jungkook leaned in, connecting their lips. The thoughts were pushed to the back of their minds as they set out on their journey home.
Months passed by again, Jungkook's college life coming to an end as interviews lined up his schedule. Taehyung watched as he gave interviews after interviews, none of them working out. The brunette was starting to lose hope but Taehyung would always cheer him up. It really was the little things, like the younger leaving little sticky notes for the older, telling him to keep fighting or like how he made his favourite meals after a failed interviews or just how he cuddled up to the brunette when he had a rough day. He did everything he could to keep the older in good spirits and Jungkook was thankful for that.
But the road is never smooth and Jungkook would lose hope, blaming himself and everything else for his failed interviews and tests. All his friends had jobs on their hands to flaunt and he was the only one who was still unemployed. He felt like a failure. To himself and to Taehyung, the boy who was giving him his everything. He surely didn't deserve that angel.
He looked around, realisation hitting him that he was a bar with his friends, celebrating their employment. The last day of college had gone past and Jungkook had been hanging by a strand. He had received no reply from the companies he had applied to and he was close to giving up.
"Cheer up, Kook. You'll get that job!" Yugyeom said, pouring his friend a glass of soju. The brunette chugged it down, welcoming the burning feeling in his throat. One drink turned to two and kept multiplying till he could no longer keep himself steady against the counter.
Yugyeom decided to drop him home as the clock neared midnight. He helped the other up, getting into a taxi and calling Taehyung, informing him about his boyfriend. The younger told him the address and in 15 minutes, the two males stood in front of the apartment as Taehyung helped Jungkook to bed.
"Thank you for bringing him home, hyung." The younger bowed to Yugyeom who just waved his arm, telling him it was no big deal. Taehyung smiled as he closed the door and went to check up on the brunette. He helped the male out of his shoes, taking off his jacket and helping him lie down on the bed as he watched him fondly.
"Taehyung?" Jungkook's voice called out to him as the younger turned to look the older male. His world came crashing down as he heard the next words come out from his lover's mouth as he passed out.
"Let's break up."
