August 30th, 2018.

It's the first day of my senior year, and I'm not nervous at all. School is kind of my thing, and everyone knows it; especially my best friend Alexia. Let me rephrase that... my only friend Alexia. So yes; some might consider me a loner, a nerd, a stuck up smarty pants who only cares about education, but that's not all I am. I'm actually super kind, driven, responsible, organized, and caring. I don't mean to boast, but all of those traits mixed together make one pretty awesome person.
*Ding ding*
Oh that's Lexi messaging me on only the best social media site ever, Chattie. I'm usually against all forms of social media, but this ones a good one. Not only can you message your friends and post pictures and videos, but you can also write and publish stories to the site as well. Writing is one of my favorite things to do, so it's the perfect platform for me.
Well, I better see what she sent me.
Alexia: hey gurl hey r u ready for senior year cuz i know i am
Me: For the millionth time: CAPITALIZE WHAT NEEDS TO BE CAPITALIZED! Also don't forget the period at the end of your sentence, or whatever form of punctuation is needed.
Alexia: honey you gotta stop using correct grammar online it's totally lame
Me: Hey!
Alexia: i'm kidding... kinda... well anyway lets meet in the library
Me: See you in 25.
*I close my laptop, and begin getting ready for the day.*
I put on my usual outfit which includes a basic shirt, a cardigan, black leggings, and moccasins. Lexi always complains about me wearing the same thing over and over again, but I don't see the problem. Life isn't a fashion show, nor is school, so I'd say I'm in the right here. Either way, I'm not really into the latest fashion trends whatsoever. There's no point for me to try to fit in if I don't even like the style I'm trying to fit in with. Nonetheless, I need to stop focusing on my outfit, and start making my famous back to school breakfast! (Hint: Lemon!)
"Moxie, are you coming? You don't want to run out of time to make your special breakfast!" Mom calls to me.
"Yeah, I'm coming!" I reply, while sprinting downstairs.
*I notice my dad, mom, and dog sitting on the couch. They're all staring at me walk down our 3 flights of stairs.*
"Why are you guys staring at me?" I ask, confused and concerned.
"You look so beautiful honey; I am so proud of you." My dad tells me.
"Thanks dad, but I really have to start making my-"
"I just can't believe my beautiful baby girl is a senior in high school. Time flies like a million fireflies in a windy sky."
"Oh it sure does Ed, it sure does." Mom replies.
"I really have to cook now, but thanks for your lovely speech dad."
"No problem sweetheart."

So yeah, that's basically my life. I'm not complaining though, as I know many others have it way worse than I do.
Now onto the breakfast... I'm sure you're dying to know what it is. The main part of this meal is the lemon pancakes. Yep you heard me right, lemon pancakes. I start by making my grandma's famous pancake recipe, and stop there. At this point you're not going to add in chocolate chips, you're not going to add in sprinkles, and not even blueberries... you're going to add in lemon. I know, shocking right? Who would've known that there would be lemon in lemon pancakes? No one. Anyways, you need 1/2 cup of lemon juice AND 2 tablespoons of lemon zest. You have to make it as lemony as it can be, or there's no point in adding it at all. These pancakes also taste best with coconut sugar and agave syrup, which are two more natural alternatives to regular and unhealthy white sugar. Those are basically my secrets into making these, so now I better do it.
*I cook my pancakes on medium heat, while watching the news and listening to my parents bicker about work. Once they're done, I carefully plate them, and try my best to make them look pretty.*
The way I like to do it, is stack them on top of eachother, leaving the prettiest one on top. Then I add blueberries and bananas, because those are the two fruits that taste best with the recipe. I then add on pure sugar free maple syrup, and a little bit of crushed walnuts to finish it off.
"Tada!" I exclaim, while presenting the pancakes to my parents.
"Mediocre." Mom remarks.
"Honey-" Dad tries to calm her down, but she walks off instead. "You know she's just in a bad mood, right? She's probably just stressed about work." He tries to make me feel better.
"Yeah, of course!" I happily reply like always.
"Well, let's dig into these pancakes before it's too late!"
"Actually dad, I'm just going to bring some to school. I'm meeting Lexi in the library, and I don't want to be late."
"Oh, alright sweetie. Have a great day at school!"
"Thanks." I thank him, while heading out to my car.
