A total eclipse of the Sun
leaves the world blotted out by shadows.
How can we stand
alone
in darkness?Don't stare too long,
but if you look up,
You can find a thin circle
fighting off the black disc
to remain. The outer ring of the Sun
refuses to be swallowed.
Our weak source of light
reminds us
the dark times will end.Until then, we stand
Together alone,
admiring what's left of our star,
passing time,
and refusing to go gentle into that good night.
